Industrial Designer (Electric Bike)

We are a rapidly growing electric bike e-commerce startup based in Australia. Our mission is to revolutionize the way people commute and explore urban areas by providing top-notch electric bikes and related accessories. We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Industrial Designer to join our team and contribute to the development of our innovative electric bike products. As an Industrial Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing and sourcing the necessary parts to bring our electric bikes to life. Your expertise will also be vital in ensuring that the manufactured bikes align with the finalized specifications and design.

Responsibilities:

Design Development: Collaborate with the product development team to conceptualize and create innovative electric bike designs that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and aligned with our brand identity.

Part Sourcing: Research and identify suitable parts, components, and materials required for the electric bike design. Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to source high-quality parts that meet design specifications and cost targets.

Prototype Development: Create prototypes or 3D models to validate the design concepts and functionality of the electric bike. Conduct thorough testing and analysis to ensure the prototypes meet the desired standards.

Manufacturing Coordination: Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure the accurate and timely production of the electric bikes. Communicate design specifications, technical requirements, and quality standards to manufacturers to facilitate smooth production processes.

Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks during the manufacturing process to verify that the bikes are being produced according to the finalized specifications. Address any design or manufacturing issues promptly and provide guidance to manufacturers for necessary adjustments.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of design specifications, part sourcing information, manufacturing processes, and quality control procedures. Ensure documentation is accurate and up to date to support future product development and improvements.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, and marketing professionals to ensure the successful integration of design concepts into the final electric bike product. Collaborate on design iterations and improvements based on feedback and market demands.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design or a related field.

Experience: Proven experience as an Industrial Designer, preferably in the bike or vehicle industry or a related field. Experience sourcing parts and coordinating with manufacturers is not mandatory but a plus.

Design Skills: Proficiency in design software. Strong conceptualization, sketching, and prototyping abilities.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous and precise approach to design, sourcing, and manufacturing processes. Strong ability to identify and address potential issues or challenges.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and cross-functional teams. Ability to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.

Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to overcome design and manufacturing challenges. Proactive approach to finding solutions and optimizing processes.

Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
