Interior Designer for a Medium to High-End Residence in Sydney, Australia

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and talented Interior Designer to prepare the interior design of a 450m2 medium to high-end residence currently under construction in Sydney, Australia. This role requires an independent thinker capable of making decisions with minimal guidance, transforming design concepts into detailed plans for the builder. You will be reporting to and working directly with the director of the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop comprehensive interior design plans including lighting layout, mechanical layout, hydraulic layout, and joinery drawings.
– Create detailed and accurate drawings and specifications for all interior elements.
– Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to source materials that meet design specifications and budget constraints.
– Ensure all design details are meticulously executed to the highest standard.

Qualifications:

– Proven experience in residential interior design, particularly in lead roles for projects of similar scale and scope. (this job requires significant project experience!)
– Strong understanding of lighting, mechanical, and hydraulic systems as they pertain to interior design.
– Proficiency in Revit (we work exclusively in Revit).
– Excellent communication and project management skills.
Keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
– Ability to work independently and make informed decisions without constant supervision.
– Familiarity with Australian building codes and standards is a plus (or have the ability to be able to read regulations).

Project Details:

– The project is a medium to high-end residence in Sydney, Australia, currently under construction with lock-up stage expected in a few weeks.
– The interior designer needs to start immediately to complete the drawings that have been started. They are about 80% done.
– The other project that you will be working on is a single house in the Inner West of Sydney. This house is getting a second floor addition and the interior design will need to be done end to end by you.
