This role is essential to our e-commerce business and is responsible to ensure that the right products are at the right locations at the right times. This is especially important for top selling products to ensure inventory remains in stock and flowing to customer orders. Success in this role helps contribute to company growth and happy customers.
Responsibilities
1) Manage all aspects of the supply chain for Tom’s Key Company to ensure our fulfillment locations remain in-stock with inventory of our most popular products.
a) Forecast and plan for inventory needs using spreadsheets, historical data, sales trends, and projections of growth.
b) Ordering new inventory including tracking orders from PO to delivery.
c) Monitoring stock levels, understanding lead times, potential supply disruptions, and proactively solving problems to
keep orders from our customers flowing smoothly.
d) Develop and conduct procurement processes to improve logistics within the company.
e) Develop and implement effective inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and
minimize stock out or overstock situations.
f) Fulfillment locations currently include the company office, 3PL, and Amazon.
g) Prepare reports for management, including financial planning and forecasting impact of changing sales of product
SKUs.
h) Adjust inventory plans to meet changing customer demands, company financial conditions, supply challenges, etc.
i) Identify inefficiencies in the supply chain process and propose and implement improvements to enhance operational
efficiency and reduce costs.
j) Streamline processes for order processing, procurement, and demand fulfillment to increase productivity and meet
customer expectations.
k) Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
2) Lead procurement logistics for new products to be launched as well as existing products.
a) Develop and modify spreadsheets to analyze data for forecasting, ordering, and tracking purposes
b) Work with internal partners to build products in Shopify and Amazon. Plan ordering to balance timing of need with
cash investment for purchases.
c) Work with suppliers to obtain products when needed, considering lead times for manufacturing, shipping, and product
availability.
d) Consider financial impacts for inventory levels – seeking to balance sales velocity with cash investment for inventory.
3) Monitor and evaluate product sales trends, return rates, and other information to guide in inventory levels and take
appropriate action, partnering with others as appropriate in decision making..
a) Identify growing sales trends and take action to meet customer demand.
b) Assess return rates for products to identify problem products and evaluate profitability levels.
c) Conduct regular inventory analysis to identify slow-moving or obsolete items and recommend appropriate action.
d) Monitor new products for success or problems and partner with others for resolution.
4) Collaborate with other people to ensure the product is received, prepared and in the right place at the right time to be
fulfilled. This includes:
a) Internal team members at Tom’s Key Company
b) External people from our suppliers and business partners
c) Tracking orders, verifying accuracy of inventory shipments in partnership with Operations team and ensuring
inventory is paid for appropriately.
d) Work with suppliers to resolve issues with deliveries and products.
Requirements
4+ years experience with supply chain management for inventory / material planning, forecasting, ordering, and related processes
Exceptionally strong with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets); great with numbers, formulas, and organizing information to make decisions related to inventory planning, ordering.
Highly analytical and data driven. Able to interpret data, prepare reports, and provide recommendations that consider business needs
Very detail oriented, organized
Experience with e-commerce platforms like Shopify and Amazon is helpful
Strong written and verbal English skills; comfortable working with people from around the world in video (Zoom) meetings to find collaborative solutions to supply chain problems.
Strong communication and teamwork skills to work with our fulfillment teams and external partners, internal teams responsible for Shopify, Amazon, Customer Service, and Website
Experience with e-commerce inventory planning tools is helpful
