Job Description

I’m looking for a Java/Spring Boot developer with at least 3 years of experience or at least 7 completed real projects.

Your task is to fix and maintain an existing internal application that is not live yet. Big plus if you’ve worked with JHipster before or if you’re familiar with CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, but it’s not a hard requirement.

The technologies you will be using are:
+ Java 17 (senior-level experience required)
+ Spring Boot 2.7 (senior-level experience required)
+ Liquibase (entry-level experience required)
+ Hibernate/JPA (medium-level experience required)
+ MySQL (medium-level experience required)
– Git (basic skills required)
– Gradle (average skills required)
– Docker (average skills required)
– Unit-/Integration-Testing (senior level required – I absolutely expect extensive test suites)
– Frontend: Vue (basic knowledge required, but I will hire a dedicated person for this part, but it’s good if you’re a bit familiar with it)

Everything that is marked above with a + is a hard requirement, the – are optional and nice-to-haves!

I expect you to be very proficient with the Java language specification of up to Java 8 (Lambdas, Streams etc.). If your focus is not on Java, please don’t apply.

This will be a full-time project and, depending on your skills and performance, may turn into a long-term ongoing project.
I’ve worked with my previous developer for 2+ years, so I do hope to find someone on a long-term basis.
Please state your skills in each of the above technologies on a scale from 0 (= you have no experience) to 10 (= you could write a book about it and teach others). For reference: I have been programming in Java full-time since 1997, and I’d still only say I’m an 7 to 8 out of 10 in Java.

The location of my company JAIDE, the maker of the application, is in Germany, so the Philippines are 6 hours ahead of us. It’s a big plus if we can have as much overlap in the working hours if possible (I’m usually at my desk at 9am local time, which is 3pm Philippine time), but if I’m satisfied with the communication and your work, then that won’t be necessary.

When I shortlist you, we’ll have a short web-call where I’d like to see and talk to you, and then we’ll get to work. In your application, please state at what (Philippine) times you can have a 30-minute online web call with me.

Payments will be bi-monthly, preferably via PayPal, Western Union or bank transfer. You’ll have to send me an invoice for tax purposes.

The wage I’ve listed is a ballpark. Please state your expected salary, as it will also depend on your skill set and experience.

Thanks!
