We are looking for motivated Instructors who are skilled and experienced in these area:
-Strong and fluent English skills
-HTML, CSS and JavaScript
-Patient, tolerant, understanding and enjoy helping others
-Working on a dev team, using Git and a source control workflow to manage dev work
You must be willing to work 40 hours per week. There are two available schedules:
1. Mondays-Fridays 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. PDT – Tuesdays-Saturdays 12:00 a.m. (midnight)-9:00 a.m. PHT.
OR
2. Mondays-Fridays 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. PDT and Saturdays-Sundays 9:00-7:00 p.m. PDT – Tuesdays-Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. PHT and Sundays-Mondays 12:00 a.m. (midnight) – 10:00 a.m. PHT.
We will pay $450 a month during training (training will take between 1-2 months depending on your study speed and past experience).
After the training, the pay will increase to $550/month. You will act as an Instructor (teacher) for students on our boot camps, and you will deliver Live Projects (which are 2-week internships that our students complete that require them to perform the skills they studied on their boot camp).
Your training will include studying and completing: 1. Tech Academy school policies, 2. UI/UX Designer Course, 3. Advanced JavaScript Course, 4. Instructor Course and apprenticeship, 5. Live Project Course and apprenticeship.
The job duties include:
-Assist students through the boot camp curriculum, emphasizing independent learning, and offer essential assistance.
-Identify students needing extra support due to struggles with coding and tech principles, retention issues, excessive reliance on assistance, or unresponsiveness, and guide them to earlier content or external resources as needed.
-Implement strategies to foster self-education and problem-solving skills, encouraging students to seek Instructor assistance only after self-effort.
-Provide one-on-one interaction, including debugging, answering questions, and providing feedback to guide students to successful boot camp completion.
-Promptly address student issues, maintain communication with fellow instructors for coordinated assistance, and ensure adherence to study schedules.
-Ensure timely escalation of unresolved student issues up the hierarchy and report any violations of school policies or excessive student difficulty.
-Acknowledge student communications within one hour during business hours, maintaining satisfaction and progress, and respond promptly to maximize program access.
-Engage with students in person daily to foster a supportive environment and discourage distractions not aligned with program goals.
-Approach student corrections with kindness and patience, avoiding confrontational interactions.
-Deliver Live Projects in JavaScript and UI/UX design.
-Remain aware of and assist with Live Projects requirements, which simulate real-world work environments using Scrum project management methodology.
-Ensure students complete prerequisite courses before participating in Live Projects, encouraging independent solution searching and minimal staff intervention.
-Help on development tasks for the school (such as website updates and upgrades).
-Whatever else is needed to ensure an excellent student experience and to help your superiors.
