Job Title: Virtual Assistant – Amazon Book Formatting Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Virtual Assistant to prepare and format manuscripts for publication on Amazon KDP. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in book formatting, editing, and an understanding of the eBook and print publication process on Amazon. This role involves converting manuscripts into Amazon-compatible formats, ensuring that the final product meets Amazon’s quality standards and provides readers with the best possible experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Convert text files into Kindle-ready formats, such as MOBI, ePub, or Amazon’s proprietary formats, ensuring they are compatible with Amazon KDP.
Format manuscripts for print-on-demand services, including creating appropriate margins, headers, footers, and page numbers.
Ensure all formatting complies with Amazon KDP guidelines, including table of contents, chapter headings, text alignment, and font consistency.
Insert images, charts, and tables into the manuscript, ensuring they display correctly across all Kindle devices and apps.
Work with authors to incorporate revisions, proofread for grammatical errors, and ensure that the final manuscript is error-free.
Collaborate with graphic designers to ensure cover images meet Amazon’s specifications for eBook and print formats.
Provide authors with guidance on Amazon KDP submission process, including metadata, book descriptions, and category selection.
Stay up-to-date with Amazon’s publishing guidelines and format changes to ensure all projects comply with the latest standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in eBook formatting tools such as Kindle Create, Calibre, or Adobe InDesign.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with authors, graphic designers, and other stakeholders.
Familiarity with Amazon KDP’s publication process and guidelines.
Experience in proofreading and editing, with a strong grasp of the English language.
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
A passion for books and publishing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience publishing books on Amazon KDP.
A portfolio showcasing previous book formatting projects.
Knowledge of graphic design principles and software for creating and editing book covers.
Work Environment:
This is a remote position with flexible hours, allowing the VA to work from anywhere. Communication with the team and clients will be conducted via email, video calls, and project management tools.
