Role Overview
The primary objectives of this role are to:
– [ ] Support the Senior Production Manager in preparation and completion of financial reports and tax returns for small and medium business clients in Australia
– [ ] Reviewing work and training less experienced Accountants and bookkeepers.
– [ ] Supporting the delivery of outstanding bookkeeping and accounting services to clients based in Australia in a manner that upholds the integrity of our systems and meets deadlines clients and tasks assigned to you.
– [ ] Provide technical support to less experienced staff in your team

Key Relationships are with:
– [ ] Senior Production Manger
– [ ] Graduate and Intermediate Accountants and Bookkeepers
Core duties
– [ ] Work with the team to handle new and existing clients files in Xero. Includes cleaning up errors across all accounts in the Xero general ledger, general settings and payroll settings; provide ongoing updates on the progress of work and gaps in information required from the client; update Xero Practice Manager (XPM) and Monday with relevant information for all assigned clients and tasks to enable meaningful, regular and informed communication with them practice-wide.
– [ ] Train less experienced bookkeepers/accountants to fulfil primary objective
Role Requirements
– [ ] Work on new client Xero files and bring accounts up to date and fix errors in accordance with the instructions and priorities as indicated by the TL.
– [ ] Ensure that all client work is up to date and done accurately and consistently and is in accordance with our bookkeeping systems
– [ ] Provide secondary support to other clients when the primary bookkeeper/accountant is on leave
– [ ] Assist in processing more difficult transactions for other bookkeepers/accountants
– [ ] Support less experienced bookkeepers/accountants with technical questions, whether accounting, software or technology
– [ ] Ensure that all timesheets entries are entered daily
– [ ] Provide TL with financial and other information relating to clients to keep them in the loop on items of note
– [ ] All BAS & IAS and other obligations lodged on time as per client engagement
– [ ] Stay up to date with all core software updates and maintain Xero certifications for Adviser and Payroll
– [ ] Ask for assistance when you are unsure or unfamiliar with a task or problem
Technical Skills
Ten plus years’ Australian experience as a bookkeeper or accountant; at least 5 years’ experience using Xero; experience in rescue jobs and complex payroll, forensic bookkeeping experience an added bonus. Specific skills required:
– [ ] Correct processing techniques in Xero and HubDoc / Dext
– [ ] Running Australian payroll in Xero including casuals and comprehension of Award and Enterprise agreements and understanding Superannuation laws
– [ ] Single Touch Payroll in Xero and reconciling and finalising end of year
– [ ] Workers’ compensation annual remuneration declarations
– [ ] Reconciling GST in Xero
– [ ] Preparing BAS & IAS
– [ ] Taxable Payment Annual Reporting
– [ ] Comprehension of PAYG instalment system
– [ ] Comprehension of Fringe Benefits Tax and Fuel Tax Credits
– [ ] Calculating and lodging multi-state payroll tax returns
– [ ] Entering purchases for motor vehicles including loans, preparing amortisation schedules and posting repayments
– [ ] Comprehension of laws relating to engaging contractors
– [ ] Managing fixed asset registers in Xero
– [ ] Managing tracked inventory in Xero as well as inventory add-ons
