We are seeking a talented and experienced LabVIEW Programmer and Test Stand Specialist to join our dynamic engineering team. As a LabVIEW Programmer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications using the National Instruments LabVIEW programming language. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in creating and optimizing test stands and automated testing systems for various engineering projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong programming skills, a deep understanding of LabVIEW, and a passion for developing innovative solutions for testing and data acquisition.
Responsibilities:
LabVIEW Software Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and researchers, to understand project requirements and objectives. Design, program, and implement LabVIEW-based software applications for data acquisition, instrument control, and test automation. Ensure the software is reliable, efficient, and user-friendly.
Test Stand Development: Lead the design, construction, and integration of custom test stands and automated testing systems. This includes selecting appropriate hardware components, creating detailed schematics, and assembling the necessary equipment to meet specific testing needs.
Data Acquisition and Analysis: Implement data acquisition strategies within the LabVIEW environment to collect and analyze data from sensors, instruments, and other devices. Develop algorithms and tools for data processing, visualization, and reporting.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Conduct thorough testing and debugging of LabVIEW applications and test stands to identify and resolve any issues. Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and updates to ensure the systems are functioning optimally.
Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including software specifications, system diagrams, and user manuals. Keep records of all software development, modifications, and updates.
Quality Assurance: Implement best practices and standards for software development and test stand construction to ensure high-quality and reliable solutions. Conduct rigorous testing to verify the accuracy and functionality of the software and test stands.
Collaboration and Training: Collaborate with team members to share knowledge, provide technical support, and contribute to the overall improvement of the engineering processes. Train and assist end-users in utilizing LabVIEW software and operating test stands effectively.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest LabVIEW technologies, tools, and industry trends. Proactively explore opportunities to enhance test stand capabilities, increase efficiency, and streamline processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in LabVIEW programming, including proficiency in developing complex applications and automated test systems.
Strong understanding of data acquisition, signal processing, and control systems.
Familiarity with various hardware interfaces and protocols commonly used in test and measurement applications (e.g., GPIB, USB, Ethernet, etc.).
Experience in test stand design, including mechanical and electrical components, is highly desirable.
Solid understanding of engineering principles and the ability to translate technical requirements into effective LabVIEW solutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems effectively.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python) is a plus.
Experience with hardware design and integration (e.g., DAQ devices, sensors, actuators) is advantageous.
