Louisiana plaintiff’s lawyer firm that specializes primarily in personal injury law is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated lawyer / paralegal to join his team.
Qualifications
– MUST: Have passed the bar exam and be a licensed attorney, or must have 3+ years of paralegal experience at a law firm
– MUST: Have a writing sample that is a pleading, legal memorandum, or motion
– MUST: Be able to speak English well and must be able to write English proficiently with understanding of English grammar rules

– Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Workspace, and OneDrive
– Strong writing, communication, and organization skills
– Proactive and eager learner
– Efficient and detail-oriented work ethic

– Has understanding of the American discovery process, including written discovery, depositions, and subpoenas

How much time?

Responsibilities
– Call clients to answer discovery questions
– Draft and prepare responses to defendant questions (Interrogatories, Requests for Admissions, and Requests for Production of Documents) based on the answers provided by clients
– Phone calls: call courts to confirm filing costs and court dates; call clients to check on their treatment status; call insurance companies to provide and receive information about active claims
– Work with Virtual Assistant to accomplish important case tasks such as medical record requests
– Draft motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence
– Manage Google Calendar with important case deadlines and follow up dates
– Perform background checks on clients and defendants or hire qualified private investigators
– Draft and prepare letters, and demand letters, on the fly as needed by attorney
– Analyze medical records and provide medical summaries that outline a client’s history of injuries and medical treatment
– Correspond with other law firms, paralegals, attorneys, court reporters, and interpreters to schedule deposition dates
– Maintain up-to-date detailed information on spreadsheets for active cases
– Marketing: as needed, assist with website updates and blog posting
