Client’s Profile

This US-based financial services company bridges the generational gap by empowering adult children with the tools to understand better and financially support their aging parents’ unique journeys. They focus on helping people support their families and creating financial education and opportunities. They know that support comes in many forms, and from many contributors, they aim to develop tools that allow families to better prepare for the future together.

Their mission is to nurture deeper family connections and provide peace of mind, ensuring a proactive approach to your parent’s well-being and future.

What you’ll do

The client is seeking an experienced Lead Full-Stack Software Developer to become the founding member of their Engineering Team and help build their prototype platform. You will be responsible for standing up and supporting a strategy implementation and maintenance plan and offering full-stack development efforts to ensure the prototype’s functionality. You should have a wealth of experience as a lead developer with experience in Dev Ops and the capability of building a product from scratch using your recommended stack. The client has expressed a willingness to explore any stack that you deem suitable, which provides a rare opportunity to design and pioneer the necessary engineering. This is an excellent chance to showcase your talents and embark on an exciting new project. Applicants must be well-versed in their stack of choice with discernment and experience in strategizing the best approach for the unique task at hand. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
– Own the infrastructure strategy from ideation to implementation.
– Develop and implement technical solutions based on infrastructure strategy.
– Develop front and back end architecture ensuring responsiveness of the prototype.
– Diagnose complex issues, evaluate, recommend and execute the best resolution.
– Help shape the initial engineering culture of the company.
– Have a voice in early technology and implementation choices.
– Work to evaluate and integrate critical third-party software and infrastructure, including the payments and mobility stacks.
– Help construct a platform that can digest data about families and match those to available resources with the ability to auto-apply (unlocking money for housing subsidiaries, claiming parents as dependents, etc.)
– Create an algorithm that matches the database in real-time.
– Design client-side and server-side architecture
– Write effective APIs
– Test prototype to ensure responsiveness and efficiency (it doesn’t need to be pretty, it just needs to work exceptionally well)
– Create security and data protection settings.
– Build features and applications with a mobile responsive design.
– Write technical documentation
– Have availability for stand-up meetings and demo days.

What you should have

– 6-10+ years of experience working with Engineering teams with a proven track record of consistent and frequent delivery of quality software to production
– Proficiency in at least one language ecosystem (Python, Ruby, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript)
– Have experience with one of Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi/CDK
– Deep hands-on knowledge and experience developing multi-region applications in the cloud with container management solutions
– Be able to figure stuff out – the modern infrastructure space is deep and complex, and there are many ways of solving the same problem. You need to be able to go off on your own, research and design a solution, implement technical spikes, and then deliver it to the leadership team.
– You should have a recommended Stack to complete the project that you are versed in
– Solid experience in developing desktop and mobile applications from scratch
– Strong familiarity with server-side technologies, version control systems and Agile methodology
– Good understanding of databases
– An analytical mind with problem-solving skills
– Organizational and time management skills
– Can work well independently, leading a project from start to finish
– Willingness to mentor and advise other team members as they onboard
– Start-up experience would be a great plus.

Who you are

– You are comfortable leading development initiatives and coming up with ideas autonomously
– You can start coding using your recommended stack
– You thrive under pressure and can adapt to changes quickly
– You are good with prioritizing tasks and managing your time
– You are observant and a critical thinker
– You can wear multiple hats with ease
– You are self-motivated and able to work independently
– You are looking to lead a team and grow with a company
