JOB DESCRIPTION
Seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal. Work remotely from anywhere with a reliable high-speed internet connection. You will need a quiet, professional environment during work hours. Tasks will be to handle overflow work from my office manager, coordinate phone and Zoom calls, communicate and coordinate with opposing counsel and judicial assistants, prepare drafts of pleadings, motions, and discovery, and e-file documents in Florida state courts and federal courts. Flexible hours, as long as you’re between 9-5 EST, as the practice is in Tampa, FL.

*This position is 100% Remote, but the candidate will need to operate during EST.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
– 5 to 8 years of industry experience, some light training will be available, but ideally, want someone who can hit the ground running
– Previous work in the legal realm
– Litigation experience is necessary
– Ability to anticipate needs and be proactive

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
– Review scheduling orders, case management orders, trial orders; calendar with reminders;
– Prepare witness lists, notify witnesses for hearings, trials
– Obtain info from FindLaw inquiries for conflicts and communicate with potential new clients;
– Scheduling and coordinating meetings, calls, Zoom mtgs, conference calls, etc.;
– Review emails and calendar reminders, hearing dates, meetings, etc.;
– File new cases, prepare civil cover sheet, draft summons, calendar response dates; draft motions for default, etc.;
– Draft Answers and Affirmative Defenses;
– Draft motions, proposed orders, draft transmittal letters to Judge;
– Review Judge’s Preferences and Procedures for each case re: scheduling hearings and submitting proposed orders, etc.;
– Schedule/coordinate depositions, draft depo notices;
– Draft discovery and/or responses, calendar due dates w/reminders;
– Set up mediations, coordinate dates w/opposing counsel;
– Draft/file/serve subpoenas, follow-up for service, and file Notices w/Ct;

Work type: Contract to Hire (1099)
Schedule: 30 hours / week
