Legal Compliance Administrative Virtual Assistant (E-commerce)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Compliance Administrative Virtual Assistant (VA) to support our e-commerce business operations across multiple platforms, including Amazon, Shopify, eBay, and others. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal compliance requirements within the e-commerce industry, specifically adhering to the laws of the United States and California. They should possess excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with US and California laws: Stay updated with the latest legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to e-commerce platforms, specifically focusing on the laws of the United States and California. Assist in implementing necessary compliance measures.

Documentation management: Maintain accurate and organized records of legal documents, contracts, policies, and procedures related to e-commerce operations, ensuring compliance with relevant US and California laws.

Policy development: Collaborate with the legal team to develop and update internal policies and guidelines, incorporating specific requirements from US federal laws and California state laws to ensure compliance.

Contract management: Review, negotiate, and manage contracts and agreements with suppliers, vendors, and service providers, ensuring compliance with US and California legal standards.

Intellectual property: Monitor and enforce intellectual property rights, including trademark registrations, copyright claims, and DMCA takedown requests, in accordance with US and California laws.

Privacy and data protection: Assist in managing data protection policies and practices, including compliance with US federal laws like the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Risk assessment: Conduct periodic risk assessments and audits to identify potential compliance issues related to US and California laws and recommend appropriate solutions.

Training and education: Provide training and guidance to the team on legal compliance matters, emphasizing US and California legal requirements, and promoting awareness and understanding of relevant regulations.

Dispute resolution: Assist in resolving legal disputes and customer claims related to e-commerce operations, taking into account applicable US and California laws.

Collaboration: Liaise with internal stakeholders, including legal counsel, finance, operations, and customer support teams, to ensure a cohesive approach to legal compliance while considering the requirements of US and California laws.
Requirements:

Proven experience: Prior experience in legal compliance, preferably within the e-commerce industry, with a focus on complying with US and California laws.

Knowledge of e-commerce platforms: Familiarity with Amazon Seller Central, Shopify, eBay, and other e-commerce platforms is a plus, with an understanding of how they align with US and California legal requirements.

Understanding of legal and regulatory landscape: Strong knowledge of relevant US federal laws and California state laws applicable to e-commerce, such as consumer protection, intellectual property, privacy, and data protection.

Detail-oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with US and California laws.

Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts, specifically those pertaining to US and California laws, to diverse audiences.

Organizational skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks and prioritizing accordingly, while ensuring compliance with US and California legal requirements.
