This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced Logistics and Customs Manager to oversee and manage our company’s freight operations and customs clearance processes, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and compliant shipping solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, logistics management, and a deep understanding of global shipping regulations and compliance. In this role, you will coordinate and optimize our freight operations, develop strategic partnerships with carriers, manage logistics staff, and ensure compliance with all international trade regulations. Your expertise will be crucial in streamlining our freight processes, negotiating contracts, and maintaining compliance with customs and shipping laws.

Responsibilities
Freight Management:
Plan and coordinate the international shipment of goods, ensuring compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations.
Negotiate freight rates and contract terms with carriers and logistics service providers.
Monitor and manage shipping schedules, space bookings, and documentation requirements for all freight activities.

Customs Clearance:
Prepare, review, and submit accurate customs entries and documentation for imports and exports.
Advise the company on the proper classification of goods and calculation of duties and taxes.
Resolve any issues that arise with customs officials or during the clearance process.

Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all applicable customs, import, and export laws and regulations.
Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and inform relevant company departments of these changes.

Operations Optimization:
Develop strategies to streamline operations, reduce freight costs, and improve efficiency.
Implement and oversee the use of freight management systems to track shipments and manage logistics operations effectively.

Stakeholder Communication:
Liaise with government agencies, clients, and service providers to ensure smooth customs processes and freight operations.
Foster a proactive and collaborative environment within the logistics department.

Documentation Management:
Maintain records of all customs-related and freight transactions and documents.
Ensure that all required certifications and licenses are current and valid.

Team Management:
Lead, train, and manage logistics teams, providing guidance and support to ensure operational excellence.

Requirements:
Certified Customs Broker with extensive experience in customs clearance and freight forwarding.
Proven experience in a logistics or supply chain management role.
In-depth knowledge of global shipping regulations, customs regulations, and import/export laws.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desirable:
Experience with automated customs clearance systems and digital freight management platforms.
Multilingual abilities to facilitate communication in international transactions.
Strong network of contacts within the freight and shipping industry.

Education:
A tertiary qualification in international trade, logistics, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
