Job Description

*ABOUT THIS POSITION*

We are a clothing brand looking for an experienced part time long form video editor to make one long form youtube video a week for our rapidly growing youtube channel that makes videos centered around productivity tips for computer programming. (Similar to Andrew Huberman’s content, but centered around computer programming)

These videos are educational, but they’re also heavily based on entertaining storytelling. We believe that the accurate portrayal of character emotions throughout the story is FOUNDATIONAL to effective storytelling.

We’ve thus determined that the best video editing style for this type of video is exactly like this man’s editing style: /watch?v=GPoti7DZsME

you primarily just have to make the characters and their movements, not the background. But if you can it’d greatly be to your advantage to mention you can do so. You will be given tutorials to help you learn his editing style.

When you are sent the video “blueprint”, you will be given a deadline of 5 days to complete the video. You have full freedom to work however and whenever you want, as long as you finish the video before the deadline.

Within your email you should include some examples of your past work so we can evaluate your skill level.

*THIS JOB IS PERFECT FOR…

This job is perfect for anyone looking for a part time job to make extra side income, a busy student looking to make a respectable income without the usual inflexibility of employment, or any other type of particularly experienced video editor looking to monetize his skills while keeping his freedom over his own time management.

Bonus points if such a person loves the idea of portraying characters’ emotions accurately to the context of the story… Maybe you were a theater kid?

*REQUIREMENTS*

1. You’re experienced enough to make characters move similarly as Isaac does in his videos (/@isaacverse)
2. You won’t miss a single deadline (consistency is non negotiable)
3. You ensure the videos meet quality standards

Ideally you should have an interest in storytelling, technology and “productivity hacks/tips”, but it’s not a requirement. But you should mention it if you do have such interests.

Remember to state your opinion on the bipedal species of chickens at the bottom of your email, or your application will be rejected.

*POTENTIAL PROMOTIONS*

You can be promoted to youtube short editor, video editor manager, or your work can be expanded in exchange for a higher salary. You can also become our go-to thumbnail editor, since that position is open as well.

*WHAT A DAY ON THE JOB LOOKS LIKE*

You’re given a youtube video “blueprint”, which is basically a demo version of the actual video. Your job is to make it look “professional”, professional being defined in extensive detail on a document we’ve written which will be given to you during the interview.

You are then given a deadline: you must complete the video within 5 days. You organize your own work hours into these 5 days [or less if it is possible to do so. This is your decision]

During the actual work, you will animate the characters and give them “life” and “emotion” so that the viewer can better understand the emotions in which the characters are going through. You know this is crucial for the video to work out, so you consult the document that had been given to you during the interview to make sure the video meets quality standards.

Your other responsibilities include: adding subtitles, editing the video chapter introductions, adding camera zoom-in and zoom-out, and optionally adding sound effects if you think it fits the situation

You might also had been given new small demands when the blueprint had been given to you, since improving our videos over time is very important for our channel’s success. But these small demands will never surpass the nature of your work, and if it ever does so you will be given a salary increase to compensate.

These small demands may include, but are not limited to: adding sound effects, changing how you move characters, adding more or less camera zooms, adding possible new character(s), etc…

Once you’re done for the day, you report your progress to your manager. Your manager will verify if you’ve done anything wrong or that should be revised, and if there is so then you will be asked to change it.

Rinse and repeat until you’ve completed the video before the deadline, and your work is complete. Your paycheck is then sent to you after your work is done.

*PAY*

You will be paid 50$ per video for 20 hours per week of work (divided into at most 5 days). Note that even if you somehow manage to make the video in fewer than 20 hours, your pay will not be deduced.

With 1 video being uploaded per week, this will accumulate to a total of 200$ a month.

*BONUSES*

1. You have the ultimate freedom to work however you want and whenever you want. Just do the job as required before the deadline ends.

2. If you want to work in the weekend instead of the week, you can request for the video blueprints to be sent to you on Friday instead of Monday.

Remember to add “[CE]” at the beginning of your application’s subject or your application will be automatically rejected.
