Hi there!
I’m Peter, the former founder of Jumpcut, Inc. As the COO for the company, I hired 70+ Filipino staff members, for roles as diverse as operations, creative writers, customer service, and ad managers. Our best people stayed with us for over 5 years, all the way until the company shut down. Proof: 4.9 stars from employees on Glassdoor: /Overview/Working-at-Jumpcut-EI_IE900475.11,
Now, I’m looking for a personal assistant. Here are the qualifications I’m looking for. No exceptions. If you don’t meet one of these criteria, please do not apply. I won’t respond 🙂
– You have graduated within the last 4 years.
– Your GWA is less than 1.6
– You graduated from a top 30 university: /geo/ph/
List all other honors and awards you’ve received on your resume as well for extra credit. Impress me with how hard you worked in college!
The job:
This job is for those of you who are currently working as a virtual assistant, and doing well — but feel like there’s something more to life you could be doing. That you could be utilizing your skills more, and be doing more interesting stuff.
As my personal assistant, you’ll be involved in every aspect of my life, and working with writing, researching, coding, data analysis, and planning. We’ll talk every single day, and you’ll get a workplan that will never be the same every week. There will be no repetitive work here.
I only want you to apply if you find extreme fulfillment from work. If work is your life, and you love the feeling of doing a good job, this is the place for you. If you feel like your purpose in life is to learn new things and expand your skill set, you should apply.
Pay is negotiable. I’ll match whatever your current employer is paying, plus a little extra on top, but it will be around $5 USD per hour. You’ll get raises every 6 months. You’ll get ALL US and Philippines holidays off, plus 2 more weeks anytime in the year of your choosing.
If you want to apply, here’s the next step:
Download this Microsoft Excel sheet, which contains real transactions from Jumpcut. /file/d/12LwjD0KI6vnnktamWxrIlpryMzramGCB/view?usp=sharing
1. Look at the lines where there are sums calculated — J198 and J199, J1595 and J1596, and J1883 and J1884. For 198, 1595, and 1883, which transactions are being summed? (This should be easy.) For the other 3 numbers, it’s summing up a seemingly arbitrary amount of transactions. However, there’s a logic behind what’s being summed. Can you figure out that logic?
2. In this transactions file, there are clearly three distinct segments (each of the three segments culminates with those sums above) of transactions. How does it seem like these segments are categorized? Be as specific as possible about the rules of categorization.
3. What do you think is going on here?
Finally, at the end of your email, write no more than 3 sentences about why you want to work with me. Send this to , with the title of the email, “I’m your future personal assistant!” Attach your resume as well to the email.
Good luck!
