At Coontz Law, we need someone to come help with our marketing. Frankly, we need a magician, an alchemist. Someone of incredible, if untapped or unrealized, talent. It’s quite possible that that person is you. We don’t think how we’re showing up in the wider world reflects just how special of a firm we are. We know that the American criminal-legal system is broken, and we think we can make it a lot better by becoming the premier brand for criminal defense and second chances in Michigan—perhaps beyond. We think we can make enormous changes to the system to make it fairer for everyone. By joining our firm, you’ll have the opportunity to use your considerable talents to do a lot of good. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with an amazing team and to grow both as a professional and as a person.

As far as the type of skills we’re looking for, we need someone who is great at details, follow-through, and implementation. You’ll be working primarily with our founder (Dustyn), and he is the type of leader who has some big brilliant ideas, has many more bad ideas he thinks are brilliant, is creative, is passionate for his work and purpose, doesn’t often care for the details, and is absolutely terrible when it comes to implementing and following through on things.

As such, your primary role is to allow Dustyn to create while you amplify and quantify. This isn’t to say your creative ideas aren’t welcome—we’re all about constructive collaboration here—but we primarily want you to be able to take a couple larger pieces of content and then amplify our voice by breaking it down and distributing it across all kinds of digital channels in a format that makes sense for that channel. Whether it’s optimized for our website, LinkedIn, TikTok, or some other marketing channel we haven’t even heard of yet, we want to get our voice out there to the folks who might become clients or send us clients. And then you need to help us quantify our success in our marketing efforts so that we can become smarter and smarter with how we invest our resources.

2. In the form of a social media post, the reasons you should get this job. You can choose any platform, but optimize your explanation for the platform. Be creative! Can you format it in a snarky tweet that’s under 280 characters? Can you format it as a glamorous Instagram post, complete with appropriate hashtags? How about a 15-second TikTok set to some absurd piece of music? To be clear, you don’t have to actually post these things to your personal social account(s). You just need to get it to us somehow.

3. A written explanation of how your post was optimized for the platform it would be posted to and how you could repurpose it on another platform.

Other materials are welcome, but if these three items are not included you will not be considered for the position.
