Job Description

When you apply, please make sure the subject line is: “I actually read the instructions”

Who we are:
Gibson Grow Co. is led by me, Sharee. I am a hardcore problem solver, digital detective, numbers fanatic, out-of-the-box thinker, marketing guru that is developing creative and data driven solutions to drive my clients towards massive success.

More specifically, I am a digital marketing strategy consultant and fractional CMO with a special focus on direct-to-consumer startups and I am one of the BEST at what I do! I also have my own direct-to-consumer small business, The Poppy Brand, that is growing and in need of a rockstar committed to working hard to push the ball forward. I also work to support a Podcast in it’s growth and success, and you will have some projects related to that as well. I am headquartered in Bend, OR with team members and vendors across the globe.

I’m looking for a highly motivated and driven individual who wants to grow and make an impact. Is that you?!

Check out my websites: for my consulting work and for my small business.

What we’re looking for:

I need a new Marketing Assistant! This is a remote (work from home) position.

This marketing assistant needs to be comfortable doing social media and email graphic creations in Canva, product research, competitor research, influencer outreach, writing content, creating workflows, and reporting data. You don’t build or manage marketing campaigns, but you do the behind-the-scenes work to make the strategy possible. You will listen to my client call recordings and pull out action items for me, the others on the call, and send me a summary of any decisions made. You will work on various client businesses, as well as my business. Occasionally, I may have you complete personal tasks for my family as well.

This unique mix of right brain (email marketing and social media) and left brain (reporting and analysis) skills makes marketing assistants very special people.

This can be a part time position or full time. I am seeking 30 hours per week, but flexible from 20-40 hours for the right candidate.

Salary & growth opportunities:

Marketing Assistants start at $7/hour for 30-40 hours per week.
You’ll work under me, Sharee Gibson.
You’ll be assigned tasks and projects with briefs on what’s needed. Some projects will be ongoing, and some will be discrete.
You’ll be graded on your communication and execution quality.

Growth opportunities:
As you enable growth for my clients and my business, your role will have the potential to grow as well. You may move into more interesting projects, manage others, and see increases in pay and number of hours (if desired). We all win.

The ideal candidate:

Social media & Email: Experience creating graphics in Canva for social and email, and creating emails in Klaviyo is a big benefit. You should be able to write draft email copy, and have an eye for design when it comes to graphic creation. You can be consistent with a brand book. You are not expected to run these channels independently. However, you need to be able to do the legwork to create the content needed to support social media and email marketing.

Digital research: A big part of this role will be various research tasks. That might look like compiling a list of influencers who match a client’s criteria, finding manufacturers for a new product Poppy is producing in China, or comparing SAAS competitors for a client. You are a digital detective, comfortable with data, and great at organizing your findings.

Reporting: You are comfortable going into various platforms (google ads, google analytics, pinterest, klaviyo, facebook ads manager, tiktok ads, etc.) and pulling out the most important metrics, and compiling them in our reporting sheet. There will be a loom video walk through to teach you how to do this, however, you are comfortable you can pick this up quickly.

Problem solving: The cardinal sin at our company is asking someone a question you could have solved yourself. We need people who are willing to “figure it out” and don’t mind rolling up their sleeves. That doesn’t mean we aren’t here to support you, we are. But only when you encounter a problem that you truly can’t solve. You’re expected to hurdle problems, not allow them to get in your way.

Make sure you’re comfortable with:

Remote working. This is a remote (work from home) position.
All job offers start with a 60-day trial to make sure that we’re the right fit for each other.
Changing tasks and new projects regularly. No two days will look exactly the same. You may do some marketing projects, some admin tasks, and some personal tasks for me. You will receive loom video explanations of the tasks.
Communication and reporting. You’ll get most of your direction from me in writing or through pre-recorded audio or videos. You’ll send me updates on what you accomplished each day, ETAs on outstanding projects, ect. You’ll reply to my messages as soon as possible (during your working hours) on Slack and email.
Often having deadlines of 1-2 business days. This is not a job you can do by setting aside 1 day a week. I’d need you to be checking and responding to emails daily and have bandwidth to potentially work *at least* every other weekday (as needed).

Our values:

Truth: Everything we do requires a commitment to truth as the core principle and foundation of our company. We are data driven marketers, data is truth. If something isn’t working, we tell the client. If we make a mistake, we’re the first to bring it up and we own it. If we don’t know the answer to something, we admit it readily (and then work to figure it out!) If we disagree, we say so. Truth is the first and most important step to solving any problem.

Responsibility: How do we do more? How do we give more? How do we help each other? Responsibility requires us to constantly be looking for opportunities to go further. We don’t try to get out of work, we lean into it. You’ll never hear us say, “That’s not my job.” By being proactive with our skillset we place ourselves in a position to influence the world around us in a way that only those who understand true responsibility ever can.

Heart: It’s not enough to simply do. You also have to care. You have to care about your clients, your team mates, and yourself. You have to work like it matters, like what you’re doing means something. You need to know that you’re making an impact and understand that there are people relying on you to do what’s best for them. In some cases, these people wouldn’t know the difference which makes it even more important. We have been offered a sacred trust in helping people grow their business and so we treat their businesses as our own.
