Mechanical Design Draftsperson

Key Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Design Draftsperson is responsible for creating and maintaining detailed Mechanical Services engineering drawings and plants for Ductwork and Pipeworks. This includes full design, heat load calculations, equipment selections (particularly PAC units) for 2D and 3D models. The Mechanical Design Draftsperson works closely with other Engineers to ensure the drawings and plans are accurate and complete. Design Draftsperson must have a minimum level of Design experience, and be capable of working independently without much guidance, based on very thinly conceptual descriptions or markups from the engineer. The design must meet all relevant applicable Australian Codes and Standards.

Set up, create and maintain detailed Engineering Drawings and plants for Mechanical Ductwork and Pipework systems with AutoCAD software 2022 or later.

Familiar with AutoCAD software, include advanced features and skills.

Design components such as Heat load sizes, unit selections, unit scheduling, ductwork sizing, diffuser grille sizing, airflow and water flow sizing, pipework sizing etc.

Be capable to problem solve and think critically at each design problem

Collaborating with project managers and other engineers to support tasks on a day-to-day basis.

Stay up-to-date with latest CAD software and engineering manufacturing technologies

Key Skills:

MUST have completed several commercial office fitouts within a Premium and Grade A high office tower environment.
Handled office/tower projects (40 and above storey buildings)
Demonstrated experience in technical/engineering projects to successful completion
Excellent communication skills
Outstanding technical abilities
Demonstrated technical understanding of different mechanical systems, can design pipework, and air schematics with ease, and explain technical problems to non-technical personnel.
Commitment to quality and timely delivery of project deliverables
Understanding NCC Standards, Australian Standards, and relevant Codes of Practice
Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering field (mechatronics, mechanical)
MUST have relevant experience in a Design Role in Contracting or Consulting as a Mechanical Design Draftsperson or Engineer.

Required Software skills:
AutoCAD – Highly Proficient Level
Microsoft Excel – Highly Proficient Level
Bluebeam – Highly Proficient Level
REVIT – preferred
CAMEL or equivalent Heat Load software – Proficient
Workflow management tool such as Click to view or Asana
