???? RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Preparing bills and filing them with insurance companies for payment.
* Inputting patient information and maintaining up-to-date records of patient data using computer software.
* Communicating with patients through phone and/or email to schedule appointments and answer any questions they may have about their bills.
* Processing payments by reviewing insurance coverage, collecting co-pays and deductibles, and issuing checks.
* Reviewing records of past claims to identify patterns in billing errors in order to improve efficiency in the future.
* Receiving inpatient and outpatient hospital charges from departments such as radiology and lab services for processing by the billing department.
* Acquiring and recording medical aid details from patients and liaising with the medical aid company to
obtain authorization on payments owed by patients.
* Following work procedures methodically while ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations of the hospital or clinic as well as state and federal laws.
* Improving job knowledge and skills by networking and staying abreast of medical service rates in order to ensure up-to-date billing.
* Ensuring that patient records, accounts, and payments are meticulously handled.
* Keeping all patient records confidential.
???? QUALIFICATIONS:
* At least 2 years of administrative experience in a medical or healthcare setting.
* A degree in accounting, business, economics, or medical field is preferred.
* Proven experience in medical billing and coding.
* Highly-organised and knows basic mathematical skills
* Has great attention to detail to maintain patient records proficiently and to check that the accounts have been entered accurately.
* Has the ability to process cash or credit card payments.
* Proficiency in account data input to prepare statements for patients.
* Knowledge of medical coding procedures.
* Proven ability to manage tasks with competing priorities and deadlines, independently determining the order of priority and self-initiating other value-added tasks
* A passionate self-starter, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
