Job Description

Our optometry office is seeking an experienced medical biller to join our organization. This individual will have a strong background in medical coding, claims filing, and payment reconciliation. Additionally they must consistently demonstrate exceptional task organization, an ability to learn quickly, and a commitment to accuracy and reliability.

This remote role requires working with our in-office staff and management team to execute the timely collection of all insurance and patient billing responsibilities. There will be constant communication with insurance companies and patients to ensure prompt and accurate payment of medical bills.

Your primary duties will include:
Verifying Vision and Medical Insurances
Accurately prepare and submit insurance claims
Work with insurance companies to resolve any issues or denials related to submitted claims
Managing Insurance receivables, troubleshooting and problem-solving unpaid claims.
Posting insurance payments to patient accounts and resolving unpaid items
Communicating with patients to obtain missing information needed for claims and notifying patients of balances owed.
Managing patient balances, sending balance due letters, communicating with patients for payment and payment options.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
Other duties outside of billing such as scheduling appointments, running reports, data entry, and other administrative tasks may also be required. This job description is not comprehensive, and duties, responsibilities, and activities may change over time.

Qualifications Required:
Fluent English with a clear neutral accent
Availability to work during US Central Time
Minimum internet speed of 20 Mb/s Download and 2 Mb/s Upload
Be located in a major metro area with reliable as well as backup sources of electricity and internet
Dedicated Computer (Laptop or Desktop) with a currently supported version of Windows operating system. Work may not be done via handheld devices such as tablets or cell phones.
At least 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding with verifiable references
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
Familiarity with medical terminology
Ability to work independently as well as communicate effectively with a team
Outstanding problem solving, communication, and customer service skills
Experience working remotely and utilizing telecommunication tools
