Position Overview:
The Medical Record Retrieval Expeditor is pivotal in assisting our legal teams. This position involves establishing consistent and proactive communication with custodians of medical records, ensuring the timely retrieval of vital client-requested records. As a growing firm, we emphasize this as a long-term position; we are looking for someone who envisions a lengthy career with us, growing and evolving as part of the O’Connor Law family.
Key Responsibilities:
– Initiate and maintain communication with custodians of records based on order priority.
– Execute approximately 25 outbound calls daily.
– Increase communication efforts as order due dates approach, dispatching necessary notices to prompt the production of records.
– Systematically organize and rotate all work orders, prioritizing chiefly by due dates.
– Perform quality control checks on all incoming records to ensure accuracy when matching to work orders.
– Swiftly route work orders to the appropriate departments.
– Close and forward orders when necessary.
– Adhere strictly to all local, state, and federal laws regarding medical records, ensuring full compliance with HIPAA regulations about the use, retrieval, storage, and sharing of medical records.
Qualifications:
– Prior experience in medical records, legal assistance, or customer service is advantageous.
– Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
– Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
– A keen eye for detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
– Comprehensive understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical record confidentiality laws.
– Familiarity with in-house computer systems and documentation methods.
Hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST, with an hour midday break.
Benefits:
Salary $600 per month while in training
$800 per month thereafter
