About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated online tutor to teach and guide a 7th Grade girl in Australia. The ideal candidate will possess excellent English skills and have the ability to build a strong connection with the student. You should be able to strike the right balance between being approachable and maintaining the student’s focus and interest. Your teaching approach should emphasize understanding over memorization, fostering those “clicking / aha” moments for the student.
Responsibilities:
– Provide online tutoring sessions for 30-60 minutes each weekday
– Assist the student with her homework questions, encouraging her reasoning before submitting answers
– Guide the student towards the correct answers without directly providing them
– Ensure the student learns through deep understanding rather than rote memorization
– Be available between 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm AEST to fit around the student’s schedule
– Prepare weekly tasks and review areas the student is struggling with
– Develop and customize a curriculum based on the student’s needs
– Review her homework and tests to create targeted tasks and assessments
Requirements:
– Excellent English and communication skills
– Ability to connect with and engage the student
– Balanced teaching approach: neither too stern nor too lenient
– Ability to maintain the student’s interest and focus
– Ability to listen to and incorporate the student’s thoughts and feedback
– Flexible availability between 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm AEST on weekdays (1:00 pm – 6:00 pm PH Time)
Preferred Skills:
– Experience in tutoring or teaching, especially at the middle school level
– Familiarity with the IXL platform (not required)
– Ability to create customized lesson plans and assessments
Rate is $4 – $7 AUD per hour
