We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to provide high-quality paralegal support to lawyers and management as well as clients of the business.

This role requires experience in Australian Law and in a legal admin role or as a paralegal with strong administration experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver 100% of the workload on or before any client-related critical dates
Drafting letters of instruction, statements, submissions and correspondence
Draft applications to the Department of Immigration & Border Protection, the Minister for Immigration & Border Protection, Statutory Review Tribunals & the Courts to the highest standard of accuracy. This being a 0% rate of error
Independently produce accurate work.
Support lawyers to manage file and client-related tasks through to delivery
Uploading evidence to support an application
General admin and file management
Liaising with clients, third parties, lawyers and Counsel
The above list is not exhaustive and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the company.

Other duties: To fulfill other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required

Qualifications and Experience/Skills Required

Previous experience in a legal admin role or as a paralegal with strong administration experience.
Experience in Australian Law
Customer service focused: committed to providing exceptional customer service across all channels – written, phone and face-to-face via video conferencing
Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and communication skills when liaising with others, both internally and externally.
Commerciality: ability to apply knowledge in a practical, commercial manner.
Teamwork – the company is a small family-run business. It is imperative that the team works efficiently. Being flexible and supportive of business development initiatives is imperative to our young business’ growth. Business development and key performance indicators will be discussed and agreed at quarterly reviews, or when the need arises
Self Management – Whilst the position holder will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be supervised by him/her, the position holder is expected to be a competent self-starter able to run tasks to completion on a reasonably sized caseload, estimated at between 30 to 50 files
Planning and organising – The position holder is expected to be highly organised with respect to work and calendar activities. The position holder is expected to be keenly aware of the importance of proper diary control and time management so that whilst maintaining a high degree of client contact, sufficient time is scheduled to ensure consistency of work output
Technology – A level of IT skills, including Microsoft Office, is required to enable work to be completed both independently and accurately
Learning – Managing own learning will be required in conjunction with liaising with the firm’s Operations Manager.
