Paralegal Researcher

We’re seeking a Paralegal Researcher who wants to grow to their full potential with our team and Company for years to come. The ideal candidate will have a passion for legal research and the talent to apply that passion to researching US law. Research will focus on the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) and surrounding relevant law, including case law and previous legal history of defendants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Research significant laws and regulations that collectively form a comprehensive framework for regulating telemarketing and protecting consumers from unwanted communications, with the TCPA serving as the main piece of legislation.
• Research and interpret relevant law, as well as official interpretations.
• Relevant Case Law: Examine recent class action suits for evolving trends in TCPA litigation and settlements.
• Case Law: Research relevant case law that has shaped the interpretation and enforcement of the TCPA.
• Investigation and Analysis: Research defendants’ legal history, identify relevant findings, and provide insights and recommendations based on findings.
• File Management: Organize and maintain case files, ensuring proper labeling, indexing, and storing in accordance with established Zoho WorkDrive protocols.
• Record Keeping: Maintain an organized database of research materials, legal references, and other related documentation for tracking and reporting purposes.
• Collaboration: Work with legal team to support ongoing cases and legal strategies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be amenable to work 34 hrs per week, during U.S. business hours.
• Shifts are 6 hours Monday to Friday and 4 hours on Saturday (PST/PDT) or 6 hours
• Tuesday to Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday (PHT).
PST/PDT
• Shift 2: M-F 1 pm – 7 pm & Sat 1 pm – 5 pm = 34 hours
PHT/Philippines Time
• Shift 2: T-Sat 4 am – 10 am & Sun 4 am – 8 am = 34 hours
• Please Note: Daylight Savings will affect these hours biannually.
• Expert in Legal Research.
• Excellent oral and written English.
• Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
• Strong report writing and internet searching skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Personal drive, initiative, and resourcefulness with strong organizational skills within a highly dynamic changing environment.
• Quality noise-canceling USB headset and personal computer to be used for work, with a reliable internet connection and in case of loss of power or internet, a backup plan or location that provides power and internet connection within 30 minutes of an outage.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a paralegal.
• Passionate and expert in doing Legal research.
• Strong understanding of legal terminology, principles, and procedures.
• Familiarity with US law.
• Familiarity with up-to-date remote work software (Zoho suits, desktop sharing, cloud services, etc).
