We are a law firm located in Miami, Florida seeking a full-time paralegal to assist with our Veterans (VA) benefits and Social Security (SSA) benefits matters. We are a growing law firm and we’re seeking someone who is looking for a long-term position and someone who is passionate about assisting clients who suffer from physical and mental disabilities. The ideal candidate would be someone who is reliable and can complete tasks in a timely manner
Our new team member will assist with the following:
– Field incoming phone calls from current Veteran and Social Security clients.
– Upload incoming emails and faxes into client files.
– Prepare outgoing emails and correspondence
– Act as the point of contact for our Veteran and Social Security clients.
– Conduct research and writing
– Educate clients on the application and appeals process.
– Keep clients updated on the status of their cases.
– Communicate with the Social Security Administration (SSA) and Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to facilitate the processing of disability claims.
– Send, receive, and follow up on paperwork sent to the SSA, VA and clients.
– Obtain client medical records from medical providers and submit them to the SSA and VA.
– Use our Case Management Software to perform all tasks, time and document all actions taken in a case.
– Prepare online files for hearings.
– Prepare legal briefs prior to hearings.
– Continuously remain in contact with our current clients and provide frequents updates on their case.
– Listen to potential clients’ stories as if you were right there with them.
– Protect personal information as you would your own, maintaining the utmost level of privacy.
– Constantly seek to improve your position by creating efficiency and implementing new ideas.
Ideal Team Member
– Two (2) years working in a paralegal/legal assistant role
– Experience in preparing legal reports
– Able to work 8:30 am – 5:30 pm EST (New York Time)
– Minimum internet speed of 20 mbps
– Ability to work in a quiet environment with no background noise
– Knowledge of legal case management systems or can quickly learn
– Has a positive outlook on life
– Extremely organized and detail oriented
– Excellent writing and speaking skills
– Can handle a huge caseload in an efficient manner
– Handles pressure easily while maintaining professionalism
– Works well with different demographics of individuals
– Extremely reliable and does what it takes to get the work done
– Enjoys the freedom to work without being micro-managed
– Has a desire to assist elderly and disabled individuals
– Has excellent writing and communication skills
