Job Description:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-time Bookkeeper. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, handling bookkeeping tasks, and assisting with tax-related matters. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of NZ tax law and possess the ability to identify anomalies in financial records.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, accounts receivable/payable, and bank reconciliations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial documents and information.
Ensure proper coding and categorization of financial transactions.
Conduct regular audits to identify any discrepancies or irregularities in financial records.
Flag unusual or out-of-the-ordinary items in client books for further review by senior staff.
Assist with the preparation of tax returns and provide support during tax audits.
Stay updated on NZ tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to clients, based on analysis of their books.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role, preferably with knowledge of NZ tax law.
Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
Ability to identify anomalies and discrepancies in financial records.
Familiarity with financial reporting and tax compliance.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
The work schedule can be flexible and will be discussed during the interview process.
