Job Description

We are a dynamic small business specializing in Audio-Visual (AV) equipment, seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Part-Time Bookkeeper. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing financial records, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and ensuring accurate expense tracking and capitalization. With a focus on efficiency and scalability, the role requires the implementation of automated systems and meticulous documentation to support our growing operations. This position is based in Canada and offers a flexible schedule with an estimated requirement of 10-15 hours per month.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management: Oversee and maintain all aspects of the company’s financial records, including but not limited to, the Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, Balance Sheets, and cash flow management.

Expense and Capitalization: Ensure accurate classification and recording of expenses and capital expenditures, particularly related to AV equipment, adhering to Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.

Account Reconciliation: Conduct regular reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Documentation and Process Improvement: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of all bookkeeping processes and procedures. Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement automated solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Receipts and Record Keeping: Efficiently collect, organize, and store all financial documentation, including receipts and invoices, ensuring readiness for audits and financial reviews.

Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with the management team to provide timely financial reports and insights. Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting as required.

Compliance and Best Practices: Stay informed of the latest accounting best practices, tax laws, and regulations affecting the industry. Ensure the company’s financial practices comply with legal standards and ethical norms.

Qualifications:
Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting, with a strong preference for candidates familiar with the AV equipment sector.

Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBook) and capable of adapting to new technologies and software for financial management and automation.

Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to document processes clearly and concisely.

Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Relevant certification or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Part-time remote position with a flexible schedule, approximately 10-15 hours per month.

Must be based in Canada or have a strong understanding of Canadian business practices and tax laws.
