Job Description

An opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic Payroll officer / Accountant has arisen in our rapidly expanding Sydney based Australian Chartered Accounting and Business Advisory firm.

We provide the full spectrum of bookkeeping, accounting, management information, business advisory, technology platform and compliance services including BAS, IAS and year-end tax returns and are committed to professionally developing our international and Australian teams and fast-tracking career progression.

Due to our growth, we are searching for a professional with a minimum of 5-years’ experience to support our Payroll Supervisor & Client Manager with payroll processing, as well as, end to end data entry bookkeeping and accounting. We prefer someone with experience working with an international accounting firm but this is not essential.
This role will attract an ambitious professional who has a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and excellent time management skills.

Payroll responsibility

Functionally reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will be responsible and accountable for preparing, processing and maintaining pay records to ensure the prompt and accurate payment of wages/salaries and entitlements for our clients. Duties include:
• Processing multiple client pay runs of varying frequencies using mostly Xero and MYOB Software
• General knowledge of timesheet applications for eg. Xero Me App, Deputy
• Onboarding new starters, interpreting individual employment agreements and staying up-to-date with any variations, calculation of terminations and redundancies
• Updating and maintaining employee database records
• Strong knowledge of regulations, industry awards and NES to ensure compliance with applicable standards
• Ensuring compliance with ATO STP (Single Touch Payroll)
• End of month payroll reconciliations
• All aspects of payroll end of year processing and reconciliations
• Preparation of Superannuation, PAYGW Tax (IAS reporting), and Payroll Tax in multiple states for multiple clients
• Handling Workers’ Compensation Insurance, registration of companies, reporting of actual annual wages, queries, etc.
• Attend to all payroll enquiries from clients and in some cases employees/contractors
• Prepare and produce payroll reports for audits and assist with queries from external auditors if necessary
• Investigate payroll variances to resolve discrepancies and balance financial records

Accountant responsibility

Reporting to one of our Client Relationship Managers or Capacity Manager, as an Accountant, you will be requested to do:

• Bookkeeping Activities
• Month-end reconciliation & Schedules – Balance Sheet & Profit & Loss
• Draft and analyse Financial Statements
• Work with minimal supervision – self driven personality with ability to identify issues and rectify
• Tax Return Preparation

This role will be remote-based and applicants will need to confirm that they can provide a suitable work and IT environment including:

Remuneration & Working Hours:

Direct Employment by a fast growth, 20 year established Australian Chartered Accountancy/Business Advisory Firm
Member of a Phillipines based team and supported by a local Manager
Salary: 600,000 PHP / year
Annual Leave: 20 days
Working Hour: 7:00AM-4:00PM PHT
