Payroll Specialist Job Description

We are looking for an optimistic individual to fulfill our open position for Payroll Specialist. We are a healthcare staffing firm and are looking for an experienced individual in preparing and running payroll on a weekly basis. Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing and managing the company’s payroll. Payroll Specialist will be the one to calculate wages based on hours worked based on submitted timesheets by staff each week.

The Role of Payroll Specialist:
As a payroll specialist, it’s your responsibility to collect all weekly timesheets from working staff, store and prepare for payroll.
To be successful as a payroll specialist, you should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards. An outstanding payroll specialist should also have excellent people skills and a high numerical aptitude.

Requirements
Minimum experience in payroll of 1 year or more
Proven experience as payroll specialist or payroll manager
Experience of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
Basic understanding of mathematics
Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field
Proficient in Google Drive (Sheets, Doc) and good knowledge of relevant software and databases
Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Secluded workstation with PC/Laptop with high speed internet access

People skills–being able to chat with everyone from diverse walks of life
Vision–you have a creative and detail-oriented nature, which is invaluable when screening resumes against job descriptions
Analytical–from recruiting reports to metrics on our recruitment processes, you’ll be asked about recruiting data all the time
Proactive–you don’t wait for people to come to you; you seek them out
Willingness to learn–we will train you, but we expect you to take initiative and dive in on your own
Interpersonal skills — strong ability to relate to others, and build relationships based on trust

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:
Collecting timesheet data and payroll information.
Entering data into payroll and administrative databases and software programs.
Calculating wages, benefits, deductions, commissions, etc.
Preparation of payroll on payroll software
Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
Preparing and distributing income statements.
Responding to payroll-related inquiries and resolving concerns.
Performing account balance and payroll reconciliations.
Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; BSc/BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus
