Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Certified Accountant to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our clients’ financial success and provide expert accounting support. As an Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing financial processes, with a major role in the payroll process and systems and providing accurate financial and payroll reporting. Your responsibilities will include overseeing payroll processing, reconciliations, implementing new systems, and ensuring compliance with taxation regulations. This position requires advanced Excel skills, large payroll processing experience, and a degree in accounting.

Working within a general practice accounting firm, the main responsibilities of this role focus on one main client with a large staff head count as well as some other clients of the firm day-to-day.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar role, with a focus on large payroll processing at scale.
Experience processing payroll for 100+ staff is required with over 250 staff across multiple divisions within this business.
Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
Knowledge and experience in using MicrOpay (Payroll System – Sage / Access) or similar, and Human Force/ TimeTarget (Rostering &
Timesheet Entry System) or similar.
Familiarity with Australian superannuation processing and regulations is desirable
Strong understanding of payroll tax reporting requirements.
Experience in project management, particularly in implementing new systems.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero is a plus
Experience with ERP systems especially Pronto is a big plus
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial calculations and reporting.
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders and relay key information both through written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities:

Manage payroll processing using MicrOpay (Payroll System – Sage / Access), ensuring accurate and timely payment of staff.
Utilise Human Force/ TimeTarget (Rostering & Timesheet Entry System) to manage employee scheduling and timesheet entry.
Process and review superannuation payments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Handle leave processing, including accruals and reviews, to ensure accurate leave calculations.
Calculate termination payments in accordance with legal requirements.
Prepare payroll tax reports and ensure timely submission.
Generate payroll management reports on a fortnightly/monthly basis, providing accurate financial information.
Conduct complex reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Assist in project management activities related to the implementation of new systems.
Utilise accounting software Xero and Pronto to manage financial transactions and generate reports.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as HR and Finance, to ensure seamless integration of payroll and financial processes.
Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and taxation requirements, ensuring compliance in all financial activities.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Assist with year-end financial reporting and audit preparations.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
