The Staff Accountant’s responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with month & quarter closing processes, creating invoices, and maintaining accounts payable documentation. Additionally, this position will be responsible for managing and administering the full lifecycle of the payroll process, associated functions, and compliance activities.

A successful Staff Accountant should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). A successful Payroll Specialist should have working knowledge of payroll systems and regulations.

Essential Functions

? Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
? Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly closing processes.
? Maintain documentation for accounts payable and expense reimbursements.
? Create invoices and maintain accounts receivable documentation.
? Support with SCA Wage Determination contract administration.
? Manage and maintain setup, reporting, and compliance for all tax and payroll regulations.
? Manage and review all payroll related entries including: time & attendance, paid and unpaid leaves of absence, hires, terminations, pay changes, special payments, special deductions, garnishments, benefits deductions, bonus & commission payments, per diems, allowances, and expense reimbursements.
? Cultivate a strong partnership with our benefits administrator and other internal and external users.
? Diagnose and resolve payroll challenges.
? Create and run all payroll-related reports.

Qualifications
? Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
? 5+ years of accounting experience (including internships)
? 1+ years of payroll experience
? Strong knowledge of payroll related tax setup, reporting, and compliance concerns including payroll taxes, unemployment insurance taxes, and workers’ compensation
? Strong knowledge of FLSA, SCA, and other pay related regulations
? Government contracting experience highly preferred
? Strong proficiency using ADP, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite is a must
? Experience using Adobe, DocuSign, and Crelate is a plus.
? Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
