PHP Coder (back-end and API work)

We need your help. We’re a rapidly growing e-commerce company, and we need to connect our core systems (based on PHP+Symfony and MySQL) to an increasing number of third-party services. This means coding against APIs for Shopify, Google (Adwords and Analytics), TikTok business, Meta business, Amazon and more.

This is a full time (40h/week) role. It involves working directly with the company CTO in a small and friendly team, so you’ll get a lot of variety in the tasks you work on, and more opportunities than similar roles in larger companies. Note that we’re based in the UK, so you’d be working remotely to UK hours (with some flexibility).

Successful applicants will be engaged on an initial one month trial basis (fully paid) to demonstrate their skills in the real working environment. Proving yourself during the initial trial will lead to a full time contract. I look forward to receiving your application and chatting with you soon!

Specific projects include:
* Crafting well-structured PHP code to communicate with the APIs to collect, normalise and store data.
* Create reporting solutions that query our data stores to provide the information that the business needs to make ongoing management decisions.
* Back-end development tasks related to data capture and manipulation.

Skills and Education Requirements:
* Advanced PHP skills and experience with Symfony or a similar framework. Creating well-structured, robust and maintainable PHP code must come naturally to you and will form the core of your job.
* A heartfelt love of technology, data and automation
* A strong academic background, ideally with a degree from a top university
* Evidence of excellent problem solving and analytical skills
* Excellent spoken and written English – you converse and communicate in English without stress
* You need a basic understanding MySQL and ability to create queries for reporting. If you have more advanced experience (e.g. related to database design and optimisation) then please mention on your application.
* Our core technologies include PHP, Symfony, Doctrine, MySQL, git (and github), Ubuntu, shell scripts, AWS. Please mention any related experience, expertise and interest on your application.
* Optional: experience and interest with Linux/Ubuntu sysadmin may provide opportunities to broaden your role
