Job Title: PHP Developer for Legacy PHP 5.6 Application

Our product is within the Seafood Industry and helps our customers manage their fishers, payroll, and government reporting and comes with a mobile application used by workers on the pier.

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced PHP Developer who can help us maintain and enhance our legacy PHP 5.4 application, build new features and improve (modernize) the codebase where possible. Your primary focus will be on understanding our existing system, making sure it’s functional, performing troubleshooting and developing necessary upgrades. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a keen understanding of legacy PHP applications.

The right candidate will be free to bring new ideas to the table, improve application performance, create unit tests and more.

Responsibilities:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance our legacy PHP 5.4 application
Write clean, fast PHP to a high standard in a timely and scalable way
Produce detailed specifications
Troubleshoot, test, and maintain the core product software and databases to ensure optimal functionality
Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
Follow industry best practices
Develop and deploy new features to facilitate related procedures and tools if necessary.
Working on MySQL and utilizing DB migrations to manage all customer DBs

Qualifications:
Proven software development experience in PHP
Solid experience with PHP 5.6
Understanding of open-source projects that could be leveraged within the application
Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, etc
Good knowledge of relational databases, version control tools and developing web services
Proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Has experience working in legacy applications and helping bring new life to the product by modernizing the system over time.
