We are looking for the right candidate with a strong foundation in audio production and post-production. This person must understand how to perform audio restoration and processing to deliver the highest possible quality considering the raw audio provided, know how to make the smoothest possible audio edits, understand what to edit and what to keep with minimal instruction, and know how to use music and clips to help tell a story.
Job Requirements
– Must have a good-quality audio portfolio
– Must be able to provide before-and-after of published podcast episodes demonstrating both good audio restoration and editing practices
– Minimum of 2 years developing and editing audio content, especially vocals
– Minimum of 6 months in editing podcasts
– Must have a strong foundation in audio production (and its tools) and understanding of key principles
– Must have some experience with RX (or other audio restoration software)
– A plus for experience with Descript
Great soft skills
– Must be proficient in English and have good grammar
– Understands the production sensibilities of podcasting and how to incorporate long-form storytelling approaches
– A plus for experience in managing/collaborating with audio hosts, producers, sound designers, and other similar clients
– A plus for experience in media outlets and being able to thrive in fast-paced, journalistic environments
– Must have a growth mindset, be proactive, open to feedback, and resourceful
Job Responsibilities
– Audio restoration/processing, editing, and arranging of complete podcast episodes
– Edit complex narrative audio that is clean but feels natural and organic
– Help develop the sound design, to include mood and feel, of podcast episodes
– Adhere to the company’s audio quality and editing guidelines/standards
– Be able to contribute ideas, suggest improvements, and share knowledge and tools that will help the team
– Be a team player and work closely with Project Managers, Producers, and other team members
– Adhere to strict client demands
Skill Set
– Proficiency in a DAW of their choosing which allows them to work quickly and efficiently
– Intermediate to expert level knowledge of audio production procedures, tools, practices, techniques, and terminology
– Experience in developing a streamlined post-production workflow
– Ability to learn and apply new audio technologies
– Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, decision-making, and time management skills
– Must be creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, take initiative, can work independently and as part of a team
– Able to handle multiple podcast shows
– Great soft skills that can be used to meet deadlines and make important decisions in editing
– Ability to adapt to strict clients and improve through feedback
