Our small but mighty company is based in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania (but we serve clients both in person and virtually). We provide financial consulting and advisory services, as well as bookkeeping, tax, and payroll to small businesses across the US. Okay, we’re biased, but we believe that we’re the best at what we do. The services we provide change lives and help business owners grow their businesses and achieve their dreams.
We’re looking for a full-time accounting manager to work along with the accounting staff and work directly with our clients. You will meet with them regularly (with a mentor to start), advise and strategize with them, ensure the bookkeeping and other financial records are well maintained and timely, build their financial forecasts, and generally guide them as they build the business of their dreams. (We have a framework for all of this, of which the Profit First system and our CFO strategy is a large part).
Like with all jobs, there are good things and bad things about this position.
Let’s get the bad out of the way first:
– The pay isn’t great, at least not to start. You will be paid between $1,000 per month to start as you onboard and get acclimated with the company, the staff, and our clients in the first three months. After that, pay will be based on your expertise and performance.
– If the above is not a deal breaker for you, keep reading. We believe the near-term potential offers a whole lot of good.
The good stuff:
1. An amazing commute. You will be working virtually. So, you can work away in whatever clothes you want. Just don’t forget to make yourself presentable before that Zoom meeting!
2. Half of your work time is flexible. Only need to work half of the time in EST working hours.
3. The work is meaningful. You’ll be working with clients from a variety of industries in a variety of situations. And you’ll be helping them accomplish amazing things. You will work along with the team to help guide and advise them as they build the business of their dreams. We’re willing to bet you can’t find that level of impact and meaning anywhere else!
4. You will always be learning. Because we believe in being true financial partners with our clients, you’ll become knowledgeable in many areas: best invoicing practices, when to be an LLC vs an S-Corp, and any of a dozen different areas that impact the day-to-day of our clients. You will also work directly for our founders, Eric and Ranelli.
5. You get to make a great impact by leading a staff of 2, which will grow over time. You get to guide their career by being a meaningful guide.
6. Speaking of growth …there is a LOT of potential in this position. Our company is growing fast. Ideally, we’d love a candidate who can grow with us, take on more responsibility, handle more clients, and grow to manage more staff quickly. Along the way will be opportunities for increased leadership roles and, yes, increased pay!
Now that you’re intrigued, let’s review the job requirements.
1. First, the technical stuff. We’re looking for someone with three or more years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in Quickbooks Online. Being QBO certified is not enough. We want you to have extensive experience using QBO and have experience advising or consulting with clients.
2. You need to be a motivated, self-driven person who enjoys getting things done. Because you work remotely from each other, there will be no one looking over your shoulder to keep you focused.
3. You ABSOLUTELY have to be a person of integrity. In the work we do, we often deal with sensitive information and our clients place a great deal of trust in us. You also need to be someone who can stand up for these values, as we require them of our clients, too – we will not work with clients who lie on their taxes, accept cash payments “under the table,” etc.
4. You will be on the computer a lot. You need to be comfortable with that, including using email, researching online, and working in spreadsheets.
5. You will be on Zoom a lot. We have monthly meetings with every client. You need to enjoy talking to other people and collaborating with them, sometimes telling them what to do (in a thoughtful, encouraging manner).
6. You need to be a person that loves making a difference and seeing the impact of your work. Basically, someone who feels good by helping others succeed and feels good.
7. Experience with doing cleanup of bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online is required. Understanding how to code and reconcile PayPal transactions is a MUST.
8. Must have experience managing staff.
9. MUST HAVE US EXPERIENCE – please don’t apply if you don’t.
To sum up, your job will be to work with the bookkeeping staff and our clients. You will oversee the work of the staff. You will also advise our clients on money management, do the actual bookkeeping for some in addition to overseeing the staff on others, reconcile bank statements, prepare reports, etc. You will also get to know the clients, their businesses, and their goals. And then you will do everything you can to guide them towards achieving those goals. You will also be a big part of our company and help us as we evolve and grow.
