Job Description: Prepress Automation Specialist – Digital Printing

Position Overview:
We are seeking an innovative and tech-savvy Prepress Automation Specialist with a strong background in workflow automation. As a key member of our team, your primary responsibility will be to streamline and optimize our prepress operations, taking our digitally printed labels to the next level. By leveraging your expertise in programming and data-driven approaches, you will identify opportunities for automation, integrate systems, and deploy advanced algorithms for artwork optimization. Your contributions will significantly enhance our efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and elevate the overall quality of our printed materials.

This position is based in India, but will support our manufacturing facility in California USA

Responsibilities:

Workflow Automation: Design, develop, and implement automated workflows using Esko Automation Engine and ArtPro to accelerate prepress processes, ensuring seamless and error-free file preparation.

Systems Integration: Integrate various prepress and printing systems to create a unified and efficient automated production environment.

Data-Driven Artwork Optimization: Utilize data analysis and programming skills to develop algorithms and scripts for artwork optimization, enhancing print quality, color consistency, and file integrity.

Opportunity Identification: Collaborate with the prepress team and other stakeholders to identify areas within the workflow that can be automated to improve productivity, reduce manual intervention, and increase accuracy.

Machine Learning Integration: Investigate and implement machine learning techniques where applicable to enhance prepress automation, streamline image manipulation, and optimize color management.

Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous testing and quality checks of automated processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to print quality standards, making adjustments as necessary.

Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to the production team on the effective use of automation tools and software systems.

Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of automation processes, scripts, and configurations for reference and continuous improvement.

Stay Updated: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in prepress automation and digital printing, and recommend innovative solutions to stay ahead of the competition.

Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments in an opposite time zone to understand the needs of clients and designers to ensure seamless integration of automated processes into the overall production workflow.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Proven experience in workflow automation for manufacturing

Automation Software Proficiency: Extensive hands-on experience with automation software.

Programming Skills: Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, or other relevant programming languages to develop customized automation scripts and algorithms.

Data-Driven Approach: Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, capable of using data insights to optimize artwork and prepress processes.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Effective problem-solving skills, able to identify opportunities for automation and implement innovative solutions.

Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders

Time Management: Ability to manage multiple short and long term automation projects, meet deadlines, while keeping up with ongoing production needs

Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to new technologies and automation trends in the prepress and digital printing industry.

Things that would make a candidate stand out:

Prepress: Knowledge of prepress principles and requirements for print production including printing processes and requirements for high quality production. Familiarity with color management principles and practices in a digital printing context.

Software Knowledge: Esko Automation Engine & Esko ArtPro
