We are looking for a special kind of person to join our team.
If something takes more than 5 minutes and you have to do it more than once – and this annoys the hell out of you. Then you might just be our kind of guy / gal!
Automation is a core part of our philosophy as a company. We want to ensure that we put our team’s efforts where it matters most. There’s only so many hours in a day!
You’ll be in charge of a variety of automation projects, with plenty of different challenges and variables to consider.
If you’re someone who likes a puzzle and enjoys finding out how to fit it all together, this might be the right role for you.
The majority of our automations are written in Python, although we’re not necessarily tied to it for everything.
Python experience is a bonus though.
We’ve built a variety of in-house scripts that help us get the job done and you’ll be helping add to that collection
Your working hours will be flexible, we’re not ones to watch the clock. The only requirements are for weekly alignment meetings and the occasional catch up / work sessions as required. For typical day to day work- work when you like!
We’re a company of programmers and tinkerers ourselves. We understand the process involved. Don’t worry about us complaining that you haven’t completed the “tiny project” when it in fact requires building an entire API library…
Key Responsibilities:
Working with the team to identify areas ripe for automation
Creating proof of concept automation scripts for various tasks within the company
Maintaining scripts and fixing bugs
Refining automation scripts to improve quality
Receiving a ton of love and appreciation from the team for making their lives a lot easier!
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrable experience with automation of processes (business or personal)
A strong capability of understanding the requirements to turn a human process into an automated process
Great text communication skills (We prefer to do as much communication via our Mattermost channel to save on unnecessary meetings!)
A strong internet connection (and backup or alternate workspace if outages are a frequent problem)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Strong Python automation experience
Experience with reverse engineering programs to create unofficial API’s
Data visualization skills
Knowledge of bot detection systems
Experience with Javascript automation is a plus, as some of our scripts use Javascript in parts due to the availability of libraries.
Experience with packet sniffing
Experience with Requests, BeautifulSoup, Selenium, Splinter, Pandas… the typical stuff!
Overall we’re looking for someone that absolutely loves automating stuff. It’s unlikely anyone has all the experience required, but if you love automating stuff – we’d love to hear from you. We’ve got so much to automate!
To apply please make sure to answer the questions below:
Bare with us, we know answering questions ahead of time before you’ve even been considered for the role can be frustrating. That’s why we’ve made 5 questions that should be easy enough to answer off the top of your head or with a quick Google search. This is just to help us get an understanding of you from the get go – so please feel free to let your personality shine through.
Question 1
Imagine you just finished writing a script… It’s been 7 solid hours of no-luck debugging, frantic Googling and begging ChatGPT to JUST SOLVE PLEASEE… But now it finally works. It was a badly ordered function. It took 5 minutes to fix.
How do you feel?
Question 2:
You need to automate the process of filling out an excel sheet from data from a website. It needs to happen everyday. The website has no official API. Ideally, you want it to be as resource efficient as possible. What steps would you take to automate this process (You can be brief with it)
Question 3:
You need to scrape Google 2 times every 5 seconds. But you keep getting blocked! Ugh. What techniques can you use to try and avoid block detection from Google?
Question 4:
A colleague is asking you to automate something that just isn’t possible. Automating it entirely would require some AGI level artificial intelligence and we ain’t living in the future just yet. But you do want to help. What would be a possible solution?
Question 5:
What would you like to get out of this position? Seriously? Money is an obvious one, but what would make it a really good job for you?
Please send us your responses via email () with your most recent resume. Thank you and we look forward to meeting you soon! ????
