Product Development & Sourcing Manager

This role is 100% work from home.

In this role, you will:

Execute on all new product development activities assigned across growing portfolio of brands
Drive differentiation and quality assurance through clear product specifications and clear communications with global vendors
Grow each of client’s brands through successful launches of a pipeline of new products
Contribute to lead time, cost, and quality improvements through key product refinements
Hold vendor partners accountable to established metrics
Establish a pipeline of sourcing/supplier-challenger recommendations and leads
Develop a network of relationships and leads for a wide variety of supply chain service providers
New Product Development: In conjunction with other parts of Supply Chain team and our Brand Growth team, you will execute on growth plans. In conjunction with cross functional team members, you will be involved in the end-to-end new product development from ideation to launch.
Technical product specifications: create technical product details according to insights from data, growth team and senior leaders to create products that meet functional, budgetary and aesthetic brand goals.
Product Quality Assurance: level-set QA expectations with complete product specifications clearly articulated to all vendors and factories involved. Timely answers to questions in the product development process and clear communications across multiple countries and time zones is a daily essential.
Product Cost Management: You will be responsible for analyzing existing products and looking for areas to optimize costs – recommending efficiencies in production, product manufacturing techniques, packaging or raw materials improvements, economies of scale.
Production Management: Partner with production management/ procurement team on any product development-related questions that may come up in the production and QC process, to ensure a smooth, on-time production process of quality goods.
Strategic Sourcing: Work with senior sourcing and procurement leaders to identify and vet new suppliers as needed.
Supplier/Vendor Management: Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and operationally efficient flow of goods from manufacturing floor to warehouse. You will oversee and manage existing suppliers – which includes establishing clear metrics for their performance while driving improvements on cost, quality, and production lead times.

About You:

Core qualifications:

Experience managing supplier relationships in Asia (5+ years’ experience preferred)
Experience developing products across a wide range of categories, including, but not limited to home and gift (soft goods, candles, jewelry, home décor items), personal care (shave-related accessories), outdoor and sporting goods (electronics, hardware commodity items, outdoor accessories)
Experience working cross-functionally and/or in matrixed organizations
Exceptional analytical ability, highly proficient at excel
A product development “super athlete” – strong foundation in materials and mass manufacturing processes, intellectually curious, equipped with a strong, pragmatic problem-solving mentality
A self-starter comfortable in fast paced, highly complex environments
Operator at heart with a bias towards action
Possesses exceptional attention to detail and the ability to zoom out and place challenges/opportunities into a greater business context
Comfortable operating with messy data and incomplete information – but strives for data-based decision making backed by analytical rigor
Passionate about empowering teams of people to make decisions, developing strong standardized processes, and leveraging technology to run effective supply chains serving a growth minded organization
