Role Overview
As a Product Researcher, your primary responsibility is to conduct thorough research to identify viable products for sale on the Amazon platform. You will analyse market trends, competitor offerings, and customer behavior to make informed recommendations for product selection and development. You will also support the team in supplier and vendor management at the early phase of product development. This role will report to the Senior Product Researcher/Analyst.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscapes with designated categories (baby products, children’s toys, outdoor and camping equipment, supplements). Monitor and evaluate key competitors’ product offerings, pricing strategies, and customer reviews to identify opportunities and threats.
Product Identification and Assessment: Utilise data analytics tools and market research techniques to identify potential high-demand products within specified categories. Evaluate product feasibility, considering factors such as production costs, market saturation, and regulatory requirements. Understand the company’s brands and the customer base and think outside of analytical data and statistics. Utilise AI to assist with some creative problem solving for products in the market. Utilise Power B.I. for in-depth product analysis.
Supplier and Vendor Research Supplier and Vendor Research: Search for potential suppliers and vendors in specific product categories. Build relationships with them and gather information on costing and prices. Assist in assessing terms such as Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) and shipping terms to support cost-effective decision-making.
Market Entry Strategy: Develop comprehensive market entry strategies for new products, considering factors such as product positioning, target audience, and promotional tactics. Collaborate with marketing teams to ensure effective product launches and promotional campaigns.
Data-driven Decision Making: Utilise data analytics tools and market research data to make informed decisions regarding product selection, pricing, and inventory management. Regularly track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to product success and trends. Use AI in the development of products to ensure company values and vision are adhered to both pre and post purchase.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field
Proven experience in product research, preferably within an e-commerce or Amazon selling environment
Familiarity with Amazon Seller Central and other relevant tools and platforms
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Knowledge of e-commerce and online marketplace dynamics
Willing to undergo a paid trial period
Amenable to working under Australian (Melbourne) business hours
