Project Controls – Oil and Gas Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Oil and Gas Project Controller with a strong background in accounting and project management to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing and optimizing project costs, schedules, and financial performance within the oil and gas sector. Your expertise in project controls and accounting will contribute to the successful execution of complex projects while ensuring adherence to financial goals and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with project teams to develop, implement, and maintain project controls strategies and systems to monitor project progress, costs, and schedules.
• Work closely with the finance and accounting departments to integrate financial data and insights into project controls processes.
• Analyze project financial data to identify trends, potential risks, and cost-saving opportunities. Provide recommendations for mitigating risks and optimizing financial performance.
• Prepare and present regular project performance reports to stakeholders, including project managers, executives, and clients.
• Monitor and track project budgets, expenses, and financial commitments. Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data in project control systems.
• Assist in the development of project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Collaborate with project managers to develop and update project schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones and objectives.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely collection of project data for reporting and analysis.
• Participate in audits and reviews, providing documentation and insights related to project controls and accounting practices.
• Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in oil and gas project controls and accounting.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in oil and gas project controls and with a strong background in accounting.
• Proficiency in project management software such as Bigtime and financial software such as Quickbooks Online.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and create actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices related to project controls and accounting in the oil and gas sector.
