Job Description

Skills (Inclusive of, but not necessarily limited to):
– Possess a working knowledge of NZS:3604, E2/AS1, and other site-specific building codes and standards.
– Understand how to efficiently measure and order materials.
– Competence in using Microsoft Project for writing, tracking, and reviewing programs.
– Ability to read and understand shop drawings in conjunction with construction drawings.
– Proficient use of Microsoft Excel.
– Continually up kill on Buildxact
– Ability to send appropriate and professional emails.
– Ability to undertake pricing process for small works and on-site variations.
– Possess leadership skills and the ability to problem solve and handle difficult conversations with sub-contractors, staff, and clients
– Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
– Having the confidents to have the hard conversations with sub-contractors, staff and clients

Cost Estimation, Tendering & Procurement:
– Review and comprehend the plans and specifications to create a detailed scope of work.
– Understand and quantify carpentry materials based on project plans.
– Send out tender invitations to preferred sub-contractors and manage timely costings.
– Evaluate and compare sub-contractor quotes, ensuring full coverage of the scope and selecting the most cost-effective option.
– Prepare detailed cost estimates based on the scope, drawings, and specifications.
– Collaborate with the project team to establish the budget and cost constraints.
– Assess and evaluate the cost implications of design changes, value engineering options, and variations to ensure accurate pricing.
– Develop and maintain a database of preferred suppliers and subcontractors, leveraging relationships to obtain competitive pricing and favourable terms.
– Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment, minimising delays, and cost overruns.
– Review and negotiate contractual terms with subcontractors, ensuring they align with the project’s requirements and budget.
– Prepare tender submission ready to submit to potential client within agreed timeframe.
