Project Manager
The Blogsmith needs help with project management tasks for our content management agency client projects.
Why The Project Manager Role Matters for The Blogsmith
The Blogsmith helps B2B technology companies build relationships with their target audience via search. We find the balance between incorporating SEO requirements while ultimately focusing on the needs of the human reader over search spiders. After all, it’s the human reader who will ultimately help us achieve conversion-related business goals.
While the clients vary and the content formats change, we always set out to create genuinely helpful content that resonates with the readers and represents our clients perfectly.
Here’s the bottom line:
We don’t just want to create content for content’s sake — we explore topics with a unique stance so that we’re providing a unique benefit (compared to similar content) for anyone who reads the work we produce.
In This Role, You’ll be Expected to:
– Work with the Content Manager for content strategies and project execution
– Coordinate with the Content Manager/Account Manager for client topics and follow up as needed
– Communicate with the Account Manager for client project requirements and make sure all details are shared and addressed to ensure we have a clear understanding of what has to be done and delivered.
– Delegate projects and all relevant topic details to different team members, including: writers, SEO keyword researchers, Designers, Editors, and Account Managers.
– Create checklists in our process management tool, Process Street, assigning relevant team members and tracking them to completion.
– Ensure all client and internal projects are completed and delivered on time with regular monitoring for progress.
– Coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure flawless execution of projects.
– Maintaining an understanding of team member project strengths and availability to determine optimal resource allocation on weekly projects.
– Report and escalate issues to upper management often and when needed.
– Create daily/weekly project performance/progress report to management.
– Track and update project status in our project tracker (Airtable) on a daily basis.
– Identify and prevent bottlenecks to ensure operations run smoothly. Help with process improvement, including the use of tool integrations (such as Airtable base/automation creation — training provided). Familiarity with other project management tools is a plus.
– Conduct weekly meetings with team members for check-ins, content workflow planning, and as needed.
– Manage emails received from internal and external parties on a daily basis.
Soft Skill + Availability Requirements:
– Good communication skills: you’ll be working with fellow team members and clients to accomplish tasks related to producing great content. We sometimes have tight internal and external deadlines, so timely responsiveness during the workweek is necessary to work on this team.
– Good interpersonal skills: In addition to being able to communicate clearly, team members should be good at managing relationships with internal and external collaborators.
– Problem-solving skills: When there’s an issue, Blogsmith teammates use their resources and each other to get it solved before it becomes a bigger issue.
– Write “Hi Maddy” (in addition to any questions or comments you have) at the end of the application form so that I know you’re paying attention to detail.
– Organization/planning skills: Successful team members don’t wait until the day a task is due to get their questions answered or address any issues.
– A passion for quality: In order for our team to create great content, you have to take an interest in the process.
– Ability to self-manage: For best results, proactively block out time in your calendar to account for all relevant tasks. The article creation process involves many interconnected, dependent steps that have to happen on deadline for the sake of our clients.
– Proactive project management: To stay on top of all the moving parts of projects and client communication, you’ll need to work to stay informed, asking for updates and clarifications when necessary.
– Availability: You can do the bulk of your work whenever during the day as long as you’re able to respond to team communications within 24 hours on Monday – Friday and can consistently meet deadlines without micromanaging. We’re looking for someone who can be available for ~2-4 hours/day between 9 am- 5 pm MST (set according to your preferred availability) to take team meetings as needed and to complete time-sensitive project management tasks.
Benefits and Compensation:
– $11/hour for 15 hours/week with the potential for more.
– Work 100% remote.
– Work whenever you want while meeting weekday deadlines for planned assignments.
– Payout via Gusto so you don’t have to pay any processing fees or Wise to minimize foreign transaction fees.
