Job Description

The Quality Control Specialist at MaryRuth’s will be a detail-oriented and experienced individual who is responsible for ensuring that our finished products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with relevant regulations. The position’s primary focus will be on reviewing and facilitating the quality testing of MRO products, working closely with cross-functional teams, co-manufacturers, vendors, and others. Work will include per lot testing, stability testing, and other testing necessary per the finished product specifications. The Quality Control Specialist will also qualify third-party laboratories. This is a full-time (40h/week), fully remote, salary-exempt position.

Responsibilities
Review MRO finished product testing data and communicate relevant findings with internal stakeholders.
Facilitate the MRO finished product stability program and work with external stakeholders where necessary to ensure continued compliance with shelf-life requirements.
Negotiate MRO finished product testing costs with external laboratories to ensure the testing program stays within the Quality budget.
Work with contract laboratories to ensure the suitability of all method(s) used.
Construct and maintain a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Write Testing Agreements and perform laboratory qualification audits.
Assist in reviewing new formulations for suitability, stability, and safety.
Assist with third-party product certifications where necessary.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) preferred.
2-5 years prior experience in dietary supplement or food Quality Control required.
Proven experience as a Quality Control Specialist or a similar role, preferably in the dietary supplements industry.
In-depth knowledge of quality control principles, regulations (e.g., FDA, GMP), and best practices within the retail industry.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous approach to quality control processes.
Familiarity with product testing methods commonly used in the vitamin industry.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and co-manufacturers.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fully-remote work environment.
Proficiency in using quality control software, databases, and other relevant tools.
Quality certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) are a plus.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including one’s human body.
This role involves sitting most of the time but may involve moving around for brief periods of time.
