Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Real Estate Land and Development Underwriter to join our team. As a Real Estate Land and Development Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating land deals within the real estate industry. Your primary responsibility will be to assess the financial viability and risk factors associated with land acquisition and development. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent phone communication abilities, and a keen eye for detail.

Analytical Underwriting:

Evaluate land deals and development opportunities to determine their financial viability and risk factors.
Review financial documents, land surveys, and development plans to assess feasibility and profitability.

Zoning Ordinance Research:

Initiate and maintain regular contact with local county officials and zoning authorities.
Gather information on current zoning regulations, land use restrictions, and permitting processes.
Ensure that all projects are in compliance with local zoning ordinances.

Financial Analysis:

Analyze financial statements, budgets, and projections to assess the financial health and potential returns of land deals.
Identify potential risks and opportunities related to land acquisition and development.

Communication Skills:

Conduct phone calls and meetings with various stakeholders, including county officials, clients, and real estate professionals.
Clearly and effectively communicate underwriting findings and recommendations.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of underwriting activities and findings.
Prepare comprehensive underwriting reports for management and clients.

Team Collaboration:

Collaborate with other team members, including real estate agents, developers, and legal professionals, to facilitate the underwriting process.

Qualifications:

Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial documents and data.
Excellent communication skills, especially over the phone, to interact with local authorities and stakeholders.
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of real estate development, land use, and zoning regulations is a plus.
Previous experience in underwriting or a related field is advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
