As a Remote Authorization Department Associate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate authorizations for our patients, enabling them to access the care they need.
**Responsibilities:**
As a Remote Authorization Department Associate, you will be responsible for handling various tasks related to authorizations and communicating with regional managing partners and clinicians via our communication platforms. Your primary duties will include:
1. **Answering Incoming Phone Calls:** Respond to incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, addressing inquiries related to authorizations, status updates, and general information regarding the department’s processes.
2. **Follow-up Phone Calls:** Initiate follow-up phone calls on requested authorizations already in process. Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to ensure smooth processing and timely approval of authorizations.
3. **Requesting New Authorizations:** Initiate and manage the process of obtaining new authorizations from insurance companies or relevant parties for upcoming patient treatments, or services.
4. **Tracking Authorization Expiration Dates:** Maintain a meticulous record of all current authorizations and their expiration dates. Proactively work to renew authorizations before they lapse, ensuring continuous patient care.
5. **Communication with Regional Managing Partners and Clinicians:** Collaborate with regional managing partners and clinicians to keep them informed about the approval or denial status of patient authorizations. Provide necessary updates and coordinate solutions in case of denials.
6. **Documentation and Data Entry:** Accurately document all communication, actions taken and relevant information related to authorizations in the department’s database or electronic health records system.
7. **Adherence to Compliance:** Follow strict protocols and guidelines to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding patient privacy and authorization processes.
8. **Process Improvement:** Continuously identify opportunities to streamline and improve the authorization process, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
**Qualifications:**
– High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in healthcare administration or related fields is a plus.
– Previous experience in a healthcare authorization department or related administrative role is preferred.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
– Proficiency in using computer systems, databases, and google suite applications.
– Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
– Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to handle inquiries and concerns in a compassionate and professional manner.
– Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
**Remote Work Requirements:**
This position is fully remote, requiring a reliable internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace to ensure efficient communication and execution of responsibilities.
Position to be worked Monday – Friday (5 am – 12 pm Eastern US Time Zone)
