We’re looking for a Front-end Developer with skills in PHP & Javascript (React is a plus) to work on projects encompassing custom, from-scratch WordPress websites. We do NOT build with off-the-shelf themes or plugins. You must be excited by front-end development and the challenge of creating beautiful, precise, responsive web experiences for users.
You must be comfortable overlapping your working time with Eastern Standard Time (USA East Coast), at least 4 hours a day. You must be comfortable working in a team and with an established workflow. Must be comfortable with git, command line on remote servers, and front-end development, not just entering content into existing WordPress themes or plugins. We custom build all themes from near-scratch.
Compensation is tied to experience and availability.

We are looking for driven, precise, and focused developers for maintaining and creating custom codebases built around the WordPress ecosystem. We are NOT theme editors and we stress front-end expertise and a basic understanding of object-oriented programming as minimum requirements.

Skills and Experience:
Proficient understanding of web markup (HTML, CSS)
Proficient understanding of client-side scripting (JS)
Basic knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery (for legacy WordPress themes/plugins)
Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, AJAX
Good understanding of SEO standards and great semantic HTML
Experience with code version control – we use Git
Comfortable with command line, BASH shell on UNIX flavored OS
Comfortable configuring local development environments (Docker, Vagrant)
Nice to Have:
React experience, or React Native experience
Any object-oriented programming experience is a plus
Experience building or deploying on the Digital Ocean platform (or AWS)
Typical Tasks:
Working with writing and design teams to build custom front end experiences
Developing custom WordPress Gutenberg blocks
Custom plugin development and server-side logic
Setting up ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) fieldsets for page editors
Debug production bugs (cache layer, server issues, general frontend bugs etc.)
Write semantic, easy-to-read, valid code
General:
