Job Brief

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Research Support Officer to assist our project teams with a wide range of administrative, quality control, and organisational tasks. As a Research Support Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our research and consulting projects. This position involves a variety of tasks, including responding to survey-related inquiries, conducting quality control checks, producing reports, and assisting with data-related tasks. With comprehensive training provided, this role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills in research support.

Requirements
Minimum undergraduate degree (including currently studying).
Degrees in economics, statistics, actuarial studies, and related fields are highly beneficial.
Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Proficiency in working with numbers and percentages in data tables and charts.
Experience with SPSS, Q, or other statistics packages is advantageous but not essential.
Knowledge of Excel macros and VBA is advantageous but not essential.
Experience with programming languages (e.g., R, Python) is advantageous but not essential.
Confident communication skills, including clear spoken and written English.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with a diverse range of people via phone and in person.
Strong attention to detail.
A commitment to excellence in client service with a strong service ethos and a proactive approach to tasks.
Ability to concentrate for extended periods (e.g., quality checking data tables).
Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a constructive and helpful manner.
Positive mindset with a resilient and “can do” attitude.
Experience within the social research sector is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities
Respond to incoming emails and telephone inquiries, providing support to survey respondents with basic queries.
Conduct quality control checks on project deliverables, including proofreading, verifying numbers in reports, tables, and dashboards.
Generate template-based reports for project teams.
Make outbound survey reminder or booking calls to participants.
Code free-text survey comments into themes for analysis.
Perform basic data cleaning tasks, such as back-coding and filtering.
Assist with data entry and management.
Participate in testing online surveys as part of quality control.
Provide ad hoc clerical support to administrative staff as requested.
