Overview:
The role of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Manager involves overseeing and implementing key strategies to improve website visibility in search engine results and drive organic traffic for our clients. This person is responsible for completing tasks assigned through our task management system (ClickUp) by following documented standard operating procedures and completing the tasks at the frequency and within the timelines given.
A Day in the Life of a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Manager
Morning:
Monitor Metrics: Check rankings, traffic, and other key SEO metrics.
Industry Updates: Review SEO news and algorithm changes.
Team Collaboration:
Pulse Meeting: Brief team meeting to align on goals.
Strategy Sessions: Plan SEO campaigns with content, design, and development teams working conjunction with the Account Manager, Project Manager and any other relevant parties.
Content Optimization:
Keyword Research: Identify relevant keywords for new/existing content ensuring keyword intent, volume and competition are considered in analysis.
Content Audits: Monthly/Weekly Review and refine website content based on keyword targets and overall goals.
Technical SEO:
Weekly Check Website Health: Resolve crawling/indexing issues.
Site Speed: Monitor and improve page load times.
Link Building:
Outreach: Develop strategies to gain high-quality backlinks.
Reporting:
Performance Reports: Compile regular reports for stakeholders.
1. Strategy Development:
Keyword Research: Identify relevant keywords and phrases that potential customers are likely to use in search engines.
Competitor Analysis: Analyze competitors’ SEO strategies to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
On-Page Optimization: Develop strategies for optimizing on-page elements such as title tags, meta descriptions, headings, and content.
2. Technical SEO:
Website Audits: Conduct regular audits to identify technical issues affecting SEO performance, such as crawl errors, broken links, and site speed.
XML Sitemaps and : Ensure proper implementation and maintenance of XML sitemaps and files.
Mobile Optimization: Ensure that the website is optimized for mobile devices to meet the requirements of search engines.
3. Content Strategy:
Content Optimization: Work with content creators to optimize existing content and develop new content that aligns with SEO strategies.
Link Building: Develop strategies for building high-quality inbound links to improve the website’s authority.
4. Analytics and Reporting:
Google Analytics: Monitor and analyze website traffic using tools like Google Analytics to measure the effectiveness of SEO strategies.
Reporting: Provide regular reports on key SEO metrics, performance against goals, and insights for improvement.
5. Collaboration:
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other teams, such as marketing, development, and design, to ensure that SEO strategies are integrated into all aspects of the online presence.
Training and Education: Keep the team and relevant stakeholders informed about the latest trends and best practices in SEO.
6. Algorithm Updates and Industry Changes:
Stay Informed: Stay updated on search engine algorithm changes and industry trends to adjust strategies accordingly.
Adaptation: Quickly adapt SEO strategies in response to algorithm updates or changes in the competitive landscape.
7. Testing and Optimization:
A/B Testing: Conduct A/B testing to refine and optimize strategies for better results.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Collaborate with teams to improve the website’s conversion rates through SEO efforts.
8. Local SEO (if applicable):
Local Optimization: Implement strategies for improving local search visibility, especially for businesses targeting local markets.
Google My Business: Optimize and manage Google My Business listings.
9. Budget Management:
Resource Allocation: Manage budgets effectively, allocating resources to activities that yield the best ROI.
10. Leadership and Team Management (if applicable):
Team Coordination: If leading a team, coordinate the efforts of SEO specialists, content creators, and other team members.
Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the SEO team’s performance and implement improvement strategies.
Link Building
Quality and Brand Safe link building.
White hat link-building strategies are required.
