We’re looking for a new senior developer to join our team of 15 creatives and nerds. This role is for a senior developer who wants to also lead and manage a team along with doing dev work.
Note, this is NOT a project management role but you would be expected to help lead, manage and overall be the one taking initiative, talking to clients and working closely with the other management team to get projects launches and client tasks completed.
My name is Peter and I am the co-owner of this company. We have 3 senior level developers, 2 mid-level devs and 3 junior devs. Our senior devs wish to focus on development work and thus we’re looking for additional team moral support, leadership and being my right-hand ‘to go’ nerd for any and all tasks.

Roles and responsibilities:
– Development team leadership
– Project leadership
– Dev strategy for new projects and creative thinking for dev solutions (full stack)
– Team communication and management (and task assignments to various team members)
– Being a nerdy friend to discuss ideas, best practices and help us (And thus the team) figure out creative and good solutions for ourselves and clients
– Handling client website and third-party technology support
– Responding to clients directly and through our support portal (Freshdesk)
– Help teach fellow nerds so they can also grow
In other words: this is a role for someone who wants a lead a team of quality nerds and be my main nerd (my ‘right hand man’ (or woman) type person).
About me:
– I’ve owned this company since 2011
– I’m a full stack developer with experience in infrastructure, security (SecOps), operations (devops), system administration, netowkring, performance optimizations, strategy and more. I an a nerd at heart and still go coding along side you and the team members. I can code in php, python, bash/linux core, and misc other things I’m learning.
– Though I still code, I’m starting to step away from coding so I can focus on growing the company and thus let you nerds handle most coding , strategy and nerdy tasks
What we’re looking for in candidates:
– Dev language experience:
* backend primarily PHP
* front-end: js, jquery, react, html/css
– Platform experience:
* WordPress (and associated plugins/tools/platforms)
* Shopify
* Laravel
* General API knowledge
– We’re looking for someone with leadership experience or at least has that kind of leader attitude to take charge of tasks, take initiative and take action themselves
– Is able to provide instruction, lead, and teach reasonably well
– Must speak reasonably good English
– Have experience doing custom development in front-end, back-end and some infrastructure work
– Is able to work with and has work on third-party platforms such as Cloudflare, Mailchimp, misc Shopify third-party apps, and has coded for them
– Willing and able to speak their mind, tell us when we’re wrong and have better ideas, and overall help us do better
Would like to have experience (but not required):
– Docker
– SecOps
– DevOps
– Ruby On Rails
– System Administration (linux servers)
– Kubernetes
A few requirements we have for you:
– While we are flexible, I do require at least 4 hours per work day to be spent during the American work day (such as my morning 9am – noon). But otherwise flexible.
– Must be available for VIDEO team meetings
– Must have stable power and internets
– This is a FULL TIME role, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
We are planning to hiring within three weeks (meaning starting right before the end of Feb 2023).

Our process:
Everyone who qualifies (see item number 3) and shows sufficient skill in their response will be invited to an initial video personality interview (usually 30 minutes). Then, if you pass that a technical interview to test your core skills at the senior and team lead level (1h interview). We may ask for a third-interview, but we usually do not need to go that far.
