Job Description Overview

A senior network Engineer is a highly skilled IT professional who designs, implements, and maintains complex network systems for a Professional Services and Managed Services Provider (MSP).
is such a provider. We offer IT solutions and support to other businesses, and we are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team.
As a Senior Network Engineer at you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining internal and external network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and leverage your extensive network expertise to support the growth and innovation of our organization, and our clients.
In this role, you will analyze network needs, Install, configure, and troubleshoot devices and technologies, resolve complex network issues, document policies, mentor and train less experienced staff, research, and evaluate network technology trends. This role requires collaboration with network architects, project managers, vendors, and partners. This role is both internal and external (client-facing) and services both our internal network as well as external client systems.
Knowledge – Education, certifications, courses, training, and experience
Required:
• A professional certification in network engineering, such as CCNP, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
• At least eight years of experience in network engineering or administration
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols, standards, and architectures
• Proficiency in network troubleshooting, analysis, and security tools
• Experience in working with various network vendors and platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft technologies broadly including but not limited to: o Experience with MS Azure Datacenter o Experience with MS Azure Conditional Access o Experience with MS Azure Virtual Desktop o Experience with M365 o Experience with MS Exchange (on-premises and online/365)
• Experience with Networking technologies broadly including but not limited to: o Switch configuration and troubleshooting across multiple vendor solutions.
o Firewall configuration and troubleshooting across multiple vendor solutions. o Proficiency in advanced network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF,
VLANs, and VPNs
• Extensive experience with advanced network security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SD-WAN, Meraki and SIEM
Beneficial:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network systems for clients
• Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting various network devices and technologies
• Monitoring and optimizing the performance, security, and availability of network systems.
• Resolving complex network issues that are escalated by the junior network engineer MSP help desk.
• Documenting the network architecture, policies, procedures, and best practices
• Mentoring and training of network engineers and other IT staff
• Researching and evaluating new network technologies and trends
• Collaborating with network architects, project managers, vendors, and internal staff as needed
• Know the system (Know client [computer] systems in general – have deep familiarity with MSP and Professional services and client systems.)
• Solve network issues for client’s w/o guidance (Independently!)
• Deep client system engineering skills
• Deep, complex knowledge of: IP Routing, VPN, Firewall configurations (Scripting with graphic user interface), Networking Protocols
• Deep experience with Networking: Interconnecting equipment within office, Interconnecting office to office, Interconnecting remote workers to office
• Advanced knowledge on these layers of networking based on the OSI model: transport layer, network Layer, data link layer, physical layer

Tasks:
Handle the items below independently or assist with:
• Lead high-impact network-related projects and initiatives.
• Analyzing the network needs and requirements of Cornerstone’s clients and proposing optimal solutions
• Evaluate and recommend advanced network hardware and software upgrades to maintain a competitive edge.
• Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting various network devices and technologies, such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless access points, and network management tools
• Expertly configure and deploy routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other complex network equipment
• Strategically and proactively monitor, optimize network performance, utilizing advanced data analysis techniques to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability.
• Lead capacity planning and scaling efforts to accommodate the company’s evolving network de- mands.
• Maintain comprehensive and meticulous network documentation, including intricate diagrams, configurations, and asset inventory.
• Provide advanced guidance and mentorship to other network engineers and technicians, ensur- ing the growth of the team’s skills and capabilities.
• Troubleshoot intricate network issues to ensure minimal downtime and rapid resolution.
• Implement and rigorously enforce advanced network security policies, protocols, and access controls to protect against sophisticated security threats.
• Stay current with cutting-edge industry best practices and compliance requirements
(e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR) and ensure network compliance.
• Specific tasks may vary depending on the project scope, client scope and network environment
